Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Oh my gosh I am so tired. Got up at 5am to get out the door by 6 and on our way down to Ventura for our first poultry show as exhibitors. Just the girls and I went. DH had drill weekend, and DS is a LAZY bum. We entered ou 2 male runner ducks and got 2nd and 4th place. (I'm pretty sure Ben came in last due to being a little thicker than he should be. He has a fat neck for a runner) But 2nd place in your first show is nothing to sneeze at. We finally got home after 8pm. Luckily the poultry show is right across the street from the beach. So the girls and I got to play in the sand and walk down to the pier for a while.

We also won a pair of Wheaten Ameraucanas in the breeders raffle! So now i really better get off my butt about getting my runs set up!

His comb could be better, but it's a good start!

It is the middle of April, and I spent an hour covering plants in the garden.

DOH!

Honestly, from seeing my runners that came from your stock, there is no WAY your birds would NOT place. Being a first timer in a really competitive field, 2nd is as good a 1st. You are on the map now baby!!!!

Thaks Debi. I actually watched the judges. they spent quite a bit of time walking between my #2 and the winner. So I am taking that as a good sign that they had a hard time making a choice.

I hate that dumb incubator, too! I can NOT get it to hold humidity not matter how I try. I wish I could offer some advice. I am no help at all.

Thank you for helping me not to give into the temptation to buy one. I've been looking at them.

I really should just save up and buy a cabinet, it's what I really want anyway. Should try to save up over winter and buy one for myself in spring.

That is a good sign and that number 2 puts you in the running before all others.... except number 1's. But to have a second place at a show is such an accomplishment!!!! I am going to show the offspring!!! And I need more eggs from those bad boys.

If not I'm sure my boys would still love some new friends.

WHOA WHOA WHOA!!! Brinseas are awesome. If someone has a problem with it, it is THAT bator only. I can guarantee you that. In my boo, the best bators are Brinsea, R-Com and hovabator. In that order.
