Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

Well, nightmare over here, weather is beautiful (a full 14'C today! all chicks and mommas sunbathing!) but see ' Urgent help needed - inner membrane seperating ' am aving a bit of a nightmare with my duck eggs. Argh, my leisurely weekend I have spent all week planning for will be spent at the kithen table with wet towels and a sharp knife, I think. Bummer. These eggs are from my hatching service, so not mine, andI had no luck hathing for this same couple last year. Called them yesterday to assure them all the duck eggs they gave me were still live and going into the hatcher. Around half look awful now, creeping air cells, inner membrane detaching from shell, but all stil live as of last night. Am keeping the humidity up to 70%-ish and hoping.

Well, power outage last night and it was 32 degrees out, but thank goodness only for an hour. Temps in the bator room didn't fluctuate much and the incubators mostly held.

Phew.

Off to take the boys in for vaccinations, poor boys. They have darn big mosquitos at those doctor's offices.

Morning check in!

Just sitting here with my cup of coffee and reading all of the posts I missed overnight and through the early morning hours, thinking to myself, what a wonderful, crazy, bunch of people inhabit the world of BYC.

(Sorry I am a bit sappy first thing in the morning!) LOL

I will be disappearing soon to take my 13 year old son, Mike, up to ABQ for open heart surgery. (His fifth.....Sigh) We will actually be gone for the big Easter Hatch Out. My husband will be manning the brooder. He will also be posting updates on our hatch to this thread for me. I may or may not be in a position to be online. Be gentle with him he is a newbie. lol

If you are so inclined, please pray for my boy.

Thanks so much,

Deb

Glad your eggs didn't suffer!
I have a power unit that goes from a cigarette lighter car unit to a main supply socket, so I can just carry them out to the car and plug them in if I get in trouble. Bought it last year when I realised I was heading off on holiday for lockdown (duh!) I sat the bator on my lap, plugged it into the car and off we went, got a great hatch too!
