Goodness I had over 15 pages to catch up on

Locked down all eggs (#as per my last report) didn't count em, since everything went into lockdown. One seemed to be rocking, and some cheeping, I think. Now that everything is set up in the basement, brooders, bators and hatchers, I couldn't really tell if was the eggs or my new Partridge Rock chicks that arrived via USPS this morning!!!

I'm so jealous of all yall with early hatchers!!! We won't even be here Saturday.. got a family thing

so we don't get to keep tabs on hatching, and its gonna drive me batty

Okay, I'm locked down or rather my eggs are. Someone please tell me I'm going to hatch at least one of the 24
eggs in there!!!

I put water in the pan on the top of my bator and a wet towel in the bottom to try and get the humidity where it needs to be. Barely holding 60%

looking at ways to add more humidity. All vents are closed. I have an "old" cabinet Farm Master. I did like Chooks said and didn't worry about humidity the first 18 days.... now I'm worried!!

Mine are in the hatcher!

I set 13 Appleyard ducks from Yotetrapper- 5 are still going strong! (2 were early quitters, one was accidentally killed by me when I candled on day 10)

5 did nothing
I set 7 of my own B/B/S Orpingtons-one didn't develop (it had a crack that I just discovered tonight), but the other 6 are developed!
Results-eleven due to hatch out of 21 eggs set.

My turkey that hatched on Monday is doing great!

He was very weak when I hatched him out, and it took a good day (and a bit of sugar water) for him to show any improvement, but he is acting perfectly normal now! His name is "Cranberry" and he is already terribly spoiled!

I noticed with that hatch-the turkey and duck eggs were shipped and the aircell was "scalloped" at lock-down-they were all shrink-wrapped! This batch (5 shipped duck and 6 of my own) several of the shipped eggs have the scalloped aircell (quite large!) but my own have normal size/look aircells. I am going to be paying closer attention and will check the ducks frequently!
Has anyone actually made a small hole in the aircell end to check on the bird inside? I have about come to the conclusion that it was not humidity issues at all with my turkey, as much as a ruptured aircell which caused the separated membrane. I have calibrated my hygrometers, and the high humidity at lockdown has always worked for me before.

I found a great way to get my humidity high!

I bought a pack of "puppy pads" for house-training dogs, and laid it on top of the wire in my Hovabator. Then I soaked it with warm water-my humidity soared immediately and is staying high!

I locked down, but not to optimistic. This is the bator that had the temp spike during the storm at day 10. Positve note all were fertile, Negative note, looks like the temp spike may have killed them all. We will see in 3 days. 1 or 2 felt heavier. These were eggs from my marans that had just stated laying and new wellies. So all were so dark can not really see. other than the the shadow, but they just did not look quite right. No stink bombs, so locked them down anyway. Good luck to the rest of you.
