Yup, Easter is the 24th. And we are looking to hatch them on the 23rd... the day before.

Got a couple of first eggs out of my #1 breeding pen today... they should be niced sized in the next two months! Wahoo.

hmm so eggs need to be set April 2nd..... I should be done way before then but never did one of these because Im a bad hatcher:-( and when I do its roos!!! Im in.... maybe this will change My luck?

Checked the calender and my oldest chickens will be 24wo on the 3rd if April so hopefully I'll be setting my own eggs

Hmmm... better get building some breeding pens if I want pure chicks...

One of my Ameraucanas laid her first ever today , maybe by April they will all get in gear .
BTW , I went out late last night in the blizzard to check my birds and see if any laid after dark [ they're under timed coop lights untill 9 PM and sometimes lay a night egg ] . Sure enough , they're were two . I haven't had an egg from my breeding pen since two weeks ago . I decided to check the nest there anyway , and saw the roo sitting in the nest .

I went to roust him out so he would not crap in there ................................... he was sitting on an egg .

Not only that , but its the first I've ever personally seen speckled with purple spots ............................................... its going to the bator .

I tried pictures last night with the flash but the spots fade out in the glare . I'll try one outside now .

ETA: They're much closer to brown now that the egg set for a day ................. gotta fly ; they finally cleared my road , now I need to I goota do my lane
