I'm up for runner up for consolation prize??? Wow...I thought I wouldn't get anything because I didn't set as much. I have to say I'm pretty excited. I still need to buy more shamo and silkie eggs. I realllllly want them...what cute birds they are.

Yeah, but I only set 17. The first post said I was runner up...then edited. So...I counted my eggs b4 they hatched...lol. Sorry you lost so many...that must've been tough. Do you know what happened with yours? I had a digital thermometer that failed. I had 7 silkie eggs with devastated air cells. 2 develeped but died early. I had 10 porous shamo eggs. I lost most when I found out my digital thermometr was reading 3-5 degrees to high. I had one make it to lockdown, but died.

By far my worst hatch...of only a few hatches.

Was the 1 that hatched set for the Easter hatch or a side showing ?

Was the 1 that hatched set for the Easter hatch or a side showing ?

nothing in my bator hatched, eggs are still in there just in case. i was hit by several power outages with this texas weather. 2 outages lasted several hours.

the 5 babies that i got on easter were under 4 broody duccle hens. i didn't really know when my hens were due to hatch, so it was a real surprise to find chicks under them on easter!

I forgot to post, but I have 16 chicks from my Easter hatch. If the internet were working at home I'd have posted a pic.

16 out of 21 isn't bad for d'Uccle eggs, especially since one was a pullet egg that I didn't have high hopes for. It did start, though, so at least I know she's laying fertile.
