Where do I find Kathyinmo and why is she gripping her eggs? What breed?

I just can't decide since I have limited space I need to choose carefully. I was thinking, maybe, Barred Plymouth Rock? I love really big chickens, feathered feet might not be so fun in the snow we have. Help!!

WOW, gorgeous! I'm sending a PM to you right now!!!

Sounds like Aria

Yesterday I went out and she had tipped over the 100 gallon water tank and was booting it about the pasture like a soccerball. I guess she has a bad case of cabin fever too! Fortunatly the automatic waterer finally unfroze.

I had no idea Aria was such a monster... I guess you better stay on her good size.. I mean a hundred gallons of water is 800 pounds!!

My guess is she stepped in it and pulled it over getting back out. I suppose it's my fault, I gave them some plastic 55 gallon barrels to play with and she and her mom roll them all over the place. I guess she figured it was the same thing. At least the floating heater wasn't in it at the time!

I've only done two hatches, but that's the biggest pip I've ever seen. LOL All of mine started with anything from a tiny spot you wcould not get a pencil lead through, to maybe a quarter of an inch hole. That looks like the chick may have started to zip, and I'm not experienced enough to know if its " normal " to have not broken the membrane at this stage.

You can try that but I doubt it will work.. Sounds like she really wants to be a mommy.. I would get a few chicks and slip them under her at night...

I have a broody that sat and tried to hatch out a batch. She always got off the eggs for too long and none of them made it. I took the eggs away and she still sits to this day in the nest with no eggs. I have just made it part of my "chores" to take her out and push her little butt out the pop door and make her go outside for awhile and then she eats and drinks and if I go back out there in a few hours she will be back in the nest. I block the nest and she picks another one.
hmm.png
I tried to move her and give her some chicks and she freaked out and went back to the nest. I can't give her chicks in the nests that she likes because they are 2 feet off the ground. ughhhh, I feel your pain. I really just ignore her now and take her out of the nest everyday.
