Sadly my 24 shipped eggs arrived looking fine... till I candled them.

They had detached air cells, many so bad it wasn't even one bubble but LOTS of smaller ones.

Looks like they got shaken HARD.

When I started three years ago, my wife said I could have 15.

What a LAUGH!

16 in the big coop.

8 in pen 1

4 in pen 2

3 free ranging

34 chicks!

And I'm setting again on April 2nd.

I'll end up on an episode of animal hoarders, I just know it.

Of the 34 chicks at least 15 are roos that will be rehomed and then I have 3 in one pen that will be leaving and 3 in another pen that will be rehomed and at least 3 of my w/bw hens will be rehomed.

it just never ends....

chicken math.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! Mahonri, I am honestly shocked you have so few chickens, I imagined you'd have many, many more!

I was told 3 or 4 hens was enough, NOT more than 6 and NO ROOSTERS!!!!!

I was given chicks that turned into 6 pullets and 4 cockerels, all of which are still in my coop.

Then I bought two 'bators...
I have joined the dark side.

You and me both, Mahonri! Our original plan was 2 to 3. Then it was, well, might as well round it off and get 4. If we can have 4, we can have 5, what's one more? Okay, 6. Nice, even number. Right now, it's 7 with 12 in the bator and hoping for a good hatch.

Our original chicken tractor that we built is now just part of the coop. We've built two coops and a run, and we ended up joining it all together and then adding a Little Tykes playhouse to it so it's kinda like a "habitrail" but for chickens instead of hamsters.

8 in one coop
11 in #2
7 in #3
7 in #4
3 in #5
3 in #6
12 in paired or single cages
7 chicks in the house
44 eggs in the bator
3 call ducks
4 parlor roller pigeons

I started with 6 birds 3 years ago....

I will just say..... ummm, I have 16 coops and pens.

Oh, and I started about 2 years ago.

Oh yes, I have only JUST begun to hatch this year! LOL I have THREE projects getting underway for the year too! My biggest problem is that my DH says no more coops, and I can't really argue with that because I agreed that the chickens would only be on the back side of the house, and I don't really have anywhere else to put another coop...I already put the pigeons out in front...

Decisions, decisions! I bet if you look around, you will find a place for another "little" coop.

That's how I started. Just a little one here, and another one there, and then..... oh, forget it..... DH gave me the "boat shed," and I turned it into a breeder barn! LOL
