That is what I am wondering as well. I got him last year as a 3 year old and I am wondering if his age is affecting his fertility as well. I really hate the idea of having to get rid of him though because he is such a nice roo. Always gentle with the girls, calls them over for treats and watches over them while they are free ranging. He only crows first thing in the morning and it is inside the coop so even that is not all that loud. Really nice blue wheaten AM too. Well if his fertility is down because of age, I might have to hold on to the black son I hatched out on the NYD hatch and see how he matures or hold on to a roo from the Easter hatch from Crystal Creek.
At three to four years, he might no be able to cover quite as many hens as a youngster, but should still be able to service a dozen. How many hens does he have?
