what kind of baby chick is that in your profile picture

It's a day old lavender ameraucana chick. They are a dual purpose breed known for laying blue eggs. They have muffs and beards, white skin, and slate or black colored legs, never green. They are excellent foragers and do very well in free range settings. The lav color is not yet recognized by the APA/ABA. Please visit the Ameraucana Breeder's Club for more information on all the varieties of Ameraucana in both Bantam and Large Fowl.

I just got caught up once again... I've been busy and the next 3 weeks I'll be busier.

My broody was due to hatch today so I've got to see which feed store will have day olds I can put under her on Friday.
She left her nest one too many times so I have no hope for any of the 7 eggs under her.

I'm setting some turkey eggs today, and I've arranged to receive some Icelandic eggs to set for this hatch-a-long. April 1st seems sooooooo far away now. I can't wait to see what will come of this.
