So... what do you all do with the hundreds of chicks you hatch out? Do you all just have lots of acres to keep them on? Do you sell them?
Honestly I'm already nervous about what I'm going to do with the extra chicks beyond the two that I can keep.. and I'm only putting a dozen in the bator. (Well...first I'm nervous that I won't even get ONE to hatch out...)
Sigh.. time to move to a house with more than 1/2 an acre.
I made a joke about chicken math and having to hatch 2 or 3 hundred chicks to get the 10 I want; but I've hatched not nearly that many [yet].
I know of a nearby swap meet because I attended some last year when I was getting back into chickens, and also sales pens at the APA shows I attended. Unfortunately, I also observed many sellers returning home with many of the birds they brought; I know if I want to come home with empty crates I'll have to price them low. There's also some auctions in driveing range. Soon, I'll be running a free add on a local internet site to sell live birds for both eating and laying.
Of course I eat some; IMO we would all serve ourselves better if we learned to get back to growing much or all of whatever we set on our tables.............................. but realisticly many of us just can't provide ourselves more than a small percentage of what we consume.
