I think that the color difference between the top and the bottom is very pretty. Kathy do you know if that is what most of the mottleds look like with adult plumage or does it differ between individuals like splash?

No, I don't know. She is the only one I had kept from the early part of the project. I have googled "Mottled Lavender Orpington," and seen photos of mottled Lavs in England. The look nothing like this one!
Steve here is a link to some pictures that I found on the web to some mottled lavender Orps. Of course they are in England but really pretty. http://www.orpington.nl/index.php?mod=page&pId=52&terug=1&forced=1 Kathy, you are right, the ones that I found didn't look like your girl but I am wondering if she wound up looking more like the pictures I found since you said that you saw more white feathers coming in. OK, I really didn't need to find another pretty color to go gaga over.

Kathy I don't have the coop space to join in on the Orp craze!
I do have to say though that the English Orp colors are just beautiful! There are some really gorgeous Brahma project colors out there in the states that I have been drooling over too. The colors are cost prohibitive to me right now but ooooooh how I would love to see some of them in my back yard. Maybe Chookschick's friend can keep importing more of the Orp colors over. Such pretty birds!
