Do we post a picture while she is on the nest or only after babies hatch?

For the broody contest, post a pic with mama and at least one baby, after at least one hatches. Then PM me with the post #.

Sweet Mother of Pearl, don't you know I'm the kid that never read the instructions all the way through...

Here it is, then!

Poor Molly was outstripped by 'her' chicks in no time at all, but they still wanted to sleep under her wings!!

I have a species confused duck. She was raised with chicks and 1/2 the time she lays her egg in one of the chicken nest boxes. She has a drake boyfriend, but her two best friends are hens. She's been broody for a few days ... in a chicken nest box. So to add to her confusion I'm letting her try to hatch out some chicken eggs for the Easter hatch. If it works I'll have to make sure there's no early swimming lessons.

I keep thinking that I want goats... but I also think they're a lot of work! I'm not ready to take the plunge, yet.

We had dairy goats for a few years. It's a real time commitment. You have to be home to milk them twice a day on a regular schedule. If you don't milk them regularly they can get mastitis. Just sayin.

Yeah, I know all about milking, I live on a dairy farm.

Unfortunately I've developed a sensitivity to cows milk

but goat milk is fine. I have to pay $5 a pint for it though so milking my own will be well worth it.

Edit: Oh the irony of living on a dairy farm and not being able to drink milk.

Ugh. There I go again not reading the directions! Just hens? I'll have to go find a picture or find a ticked of LADY bird in the backyard.
