I made my first nomination yesterday. Today we have a high wind advisory from noon until midnight. I guess it could be worse, it could be snowing as well.

SCG we can add laying roosters to the list for the pictures, maybe we will get more submissions!

OK time to get ready for work and find out what the Dug Way has in store for us today.

Good mornin' to my BYC friends. I tried to stay in bed untill at least sunup, but since 4 a.m. the cough would not let me lay down. The sun's peeking up now and I hear that Ameraucana crowing. I know some do not like the sound; I love it. The other three guys voices don't carry as well, but they're joining in too.

I'm going to do some errand running today; looks like I'll be wearing that mask to do it. I was hoping the latest hacking was just allergy/sinus, but still coughing up that yellow crap. [Grossed out yet?]

Not sure how well my egg deliveries will be received, what with the delivery guy wearing a surgical mask.

The room that the bators are in is no longer really the best; its on the SW corner and gets hot in the afternoon. I like my Hovabators, but kinda wish they had the digital thermostats instead of the wafers; and that they were not so affected by room temps. I'm going to have to turn on the air and hope the bator temps stay adjusted while I'm away.

Thanks for the encouragement, kvmommy. I took your advice and ordered an incubator!

Today is my 50th(!) so it will be a present to myself. If my one chick hatches, I'll have a 5% hatch rate (I set 20 eggs), otherwise, it will be zero.
I'm going to try again as soon as my incubator arrives. I just hope my rooster steps it up. I've seen him mating, but apparently, he is not successful.

Good morning!

I have 3 or 4 pips in the Reptipro this morning. I am kinda nervious about this batch (only 8 eggs in all) because some were part of a poorly packaged shipment of eggs. They were also in a weird part of the this never-ending staggered hatch, and didn't get turned for a few extra days.

Here's hoping they kick hatching wisdom right in the teeth.


On another note: My uber-white-kid toddler is standing in the middle the kitchen, throwing his toast in the air, yelling "ARRIBA! ARIBBA!"

...Sietente!! And chew with your mouth closed, please.

I dread that kind of news.

I candled last night and pulled 15/78 eggs, so 63 left.
Pulled 1 BLRW not fertile
2 Blue mystery eggs I bought at a local auction both not fertile.
12 of my barnyard mixes, most not fertile (pullets) and a few blood rings.

I am pretty happy with this.

I have chicks hatching out now. Some shipped, some my eggs. Set 55 eggs, 34 made it to lockdown. Shipped eggs, lots not fertile

2 hatched so far and lots of pips.
