You know I'm going to have to look again; I'm with whoever mentioned "alien". I'm just glad I live in a part of the country where the only thing making weird embryos in the chicken eggs are the hoot owls.

I have been trying to keep up with everyone honestly, I have been paying attention... I've just not posted very much.. Those of you with surgeries, illnesses and falls, I've been keeping y'all in my thoughts... Those who were stolen from.. Well, you know what they say about Karma! LOL...

I've had a heck of a time the last 24 hours... I noticed that my temp was almost 110 with 92 eggs for this hatch plus 8 more for next week... I've had to several times turn the thermostat WAAAAAAAAY down and fan the inside of the bator with the top of an egg carton.. Although the heating coil was not even coming on, the temp would still go up... I finally figured out that because the chicks are getting ready to hatch, they are creating their own heat and I had to go ahead and put them in lockdown tonight instead of tomorrow afternoon... I've been keeping an eye on the bators and they are stable now...

I've never tried to hatch this many eggs at once so this is a learning experience for me.. Honestly, I don't think I will do it again until I get my cabinet.. I really didn't plan it to begin with.. Originally, I was only supposed to have my lav orps and EE's but had a bunch of my own mixes and then a friend brought be 3 dozen that I was not expecting...

On a good note, I went ahead and candled them all since I didn't want to put any into lockdown that had already quit and I only found one quitter... Unfortunately, it was one of my lav orps.. They were shipped and that egg was a mess... As I moved it to candle, the chick, yolk and membrane just separated from the shell... ALL of them had broken air cells but that one was obviously much worse than the rest... Oh well.. I still put 7 into lockdown... 3 1/2 more days!

I have 49 eggs in lockdown now, and 42 more to go in on 4/27. I hear peeping from the incubator that is in lockdown!

I have a question...

One of the contests is to guess how many posts Mahonri will have on Easter... I thought it was for this thread... Was I wrong?? Is it how many posts he will have that HE has posted???

If I was wrong, can I change my answer?!?!? I actually guessed he would have LESS than he already had when i guessed!!! UGH!!!

I have 9 little chickies all hatched out. Three are still fluffing. Two are trying to eat the ones that are trying to fluff.

I think I hatched vultures.
