Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

You should tell them by asking questions and then making it clear they can assume they'll have trouble with a singlet, and suggest they find other chicks for the potential successful hatch. Maybe it's not too late to add to the incubator?

That is pretty much what I said. I am not so eloquent with my words, so I often come off like I am a beeotch. Oh well, it's said and done. Then some other member comes along and DUH!!!! Buy a chick for it. Stupid me. Why did I not think of that? Hatcher at heart here.

There is no other way to acquire chicks!! There can be only one!!

I can't imagine buying company for a chick, but I've never been given the chance for a single...I constantly hatch!

Hey I set 1 egg today!

No really really I did! I have been getting a double yolker every other day from one of my 1 year old hens. We have been eating them for breakfast. Well I have a broody that won't give up and her golf ball just won't hatch for her.

So I let her have one of the double yolker eggs today. I just want to see if it develops. It's free incubation for me and a fun experiment for my kids too. We are going to candle it in 7 days and see what we find. I have no hope for it at all but hey maybe I will be famous when my broody hatches out twins and her golf ball all in the same hatch!!!

I do too. Ken says NO MORE, then I tell him "But honey these are special birds and we can sell the chicks". Like that is gonna happen.

facinating. how so?

My grown kids hate my chickens, but when they're around I'll get on here and laugh about something you post. My youngest daughter loved the nekkid stories during NYD hatch and now they all ask me if your kids have done anything cute or funny.
Two of them have never read any of them and I don't talk to them much about what I read here to them, but they've all asked me if your posts are always funny like that and what the kids have done lately. Guess my daughter thought they were so cute she told her sisters about them.

I have a broody Marans!

Should I go put one egg under her?

She's sitting on one golf ball at present.

Do you think she could brood 30 chicks?

I have a few broodies right now. My plan is to let them set, and then switch out the eggs with chicks.

I did it with a Silkie. She sat for a week and I made the switch. It worked that time. I hope this will work again.
