Mahonri's 2nd Annual BYC EASTER HATCH. Post pics of your chicks!

My 4 coturnix eggs are almost due!

I lost my male a while b4, but I read the hen will hold the fertility from the male for 2 mo. Phew!

When they appear to have no aircell, they have usually pipped internally and there isn't any definition any longer to give such contrast. Slide your candler around and see if you don't find the shadow of a wiggler!

Oh Mary I love them! I will have some of those someday.

I have 4 rosecomb brown leghorns teenager pullets right now and they are really fun. They run around and look like roadrunners with their longer than normal pointy tails.

Woohoo!! I will have my 2 new EcoGlow Brooders by the end of the day tomorrow! Just in the nick of time, and I'll be able to migrate existing chicks into one and the Easter hatchers into the other, and kill all of my expensive and EcoMalicious red bulbs!!

I'm so egg-cited! If you do the math, one of these will pay for itself in 2 months in savings...that's not small potatoes!

I'm not even going to try to catch up. Geez guys!

But I did read the last page where I left off and started cracking up at this. I knew what it was, before the end. LOL

The LG still air would not hold temps. I'd get it set and it would hold for a few hours, then it just rises slowly until I turn it down. It was up to 106 yesterday when I was gone all day until half past midnight. Turned it down again, but was up to 103 by this afternoon.

Waste of money.

So, I had to come up with a last-minute plan to hatch in the Genesis. I hadn't tested it out, so now the humidity is way too high. Hopefully, it will come down in a few hours and then I can just add small amounts of water to keep it steady.

I didn't candle again, so all 16 (of 21) eggs that looked good on day 14 are locked down. First time hatching.... I am terribly nervous.... but I have a wonderful distraction! Time to get the brooder set up in case I get some chickies...

Congratulations to everyone with early hatches and healthy birds! Those Icelandics seem very hearty, and I love all of the names Icelandic owners seem to use. Beautiful birds with beautiful names.
