Chick number 1 is working in earnest. Got half the top sawed off and chirping like mad. I'm sure a nap is due soon. I've got the inspirational music on. (5 pips so far ....)

OK I don't know if I we have a first chick hatched qualifier yet, but just in case not I am officially entering into that. Just got home and one of my turkey poults is out and fluffing up. Unfortunately the power is out and I can't be on long since I don't know how long this computer battery is going to last. I will get a pic of the time on my computer right now and a picture of the poult. Right now we moved the bator out to our Jetta because there is a 110 VAC plug in the car. Thank God for that since I don't know how long the power will be out. Got home and saw that one of the turkey eggs was I thought only zipping because the bator is all steamed up but I can see the poult in there on top of the other eggs and realized that it came from the egg that I thought had only zipped. OK gotta get off. If I find out that someone else who set at the proper time already has a chick I won't bother posting the pics for that contest just for cuteness.

I'm confused. Mahonri's post says today is day 20...I thought today was only day 19???

Thanks, daisychick. I had set everything up to use an LG as a hatcher and had the humidity perfect, but I just could not stabilize the temps. I'll keep trying for later hatches, but had to improvise at lockdown in the Genesis. I'm not sure if this can be gleaned from my online persona, but I am not an improv-type person. Anyhow, the Caliber III says my humidity only went down to 64% when I opened the hatcher, so I don't think I shrink-wrapped him, and he has enlarged his pip a bit. Still, I have learned a valuable lesson. Lockdown means do not touch, even if the humidity is too high and you think there are no pips. Breathe...

Day 19 here too ... and mine are working like mad! I've have yet to find out if that's a good thing or not.

(Chick number 1 has 3/4 of the top off. Pip number 6 pipping at the narrow end in an egg carton. That surely can't be good ...)​

Day 19 here as well... no action... but mine usually hatch on day 20 and quick from pip to zip.

I've got pips!! At least a couple.. the one up front that I can see the best looks like it pipped into a vein though...

It is in the middle closer to the small end, but does seem to be alive.. here's hoping it makes it!!
