I've been a bad, bad hatcher.

After turning the heat down repeatedly, I finally discovered that the chicks keep moving the sensor probe over to the eggs and then sleeping on it......................... evidently their body temps are around 102. Air temperature was actually around 97.

The egg pipped upside down has not progressed all day after I sat it pipped end up. An Egg next to it zipped, then stopped moving 2 hours ago. I figured to help the backward pipper as soon as the zipper popped. I finally got impatient, and popped the zipper..................... it was just resting and not ready....................... still alive but not moving.

Not getting any brighter, I moved on to the backward pipper. Zipped it and popped the top.......................... not too much blood.................... but the yolk has not absorbed. It too is still alive [so far], and sitting tightly curled in the half shell

I know that ducklings imprint but do poults? I have noticed that every time I put my hand down in the brooder to mess with them all of them come running over to my hand. The chick could care less but the poults run right up and stick around. I have never hatched turkeys before so

It's hard to know when to help, and when you don't and they die, it's brutal knowing you might have done something.

Hopefully they'll be just fine!

I have read that they imprint REALLY easy.

Well that explains it then. So used to the chicks pretty much ignoring me. I think it is really cute but I am wondering if it might become annoying when they are bigger.

One of them has already grabbed my sleeve really tight. I was surprised at how strong it is for being at most 24 hours old.
