That almost looks exactly like the hen that wandered into my yard a few weeks ago. I still have no idea what she is.

Of course, this is a terrible pic of her.

What pretty birds I have not figured out how to quote anything. Right now I have silver lace wyndottes, gold Wynadottes and blue red lace wyandottes would love to figure out what I need to get to get the lavender and some of the colors from England. My spelling is horrible due to the fact I am dyslexic and this helps me work with special needs kids. So excuse my spelling please.
Hope the wrist heals quickly

Highlight what you want to quote. press ctrl c on your keyboard. Press Reply and move the cursor where you want the quote. Press ctrl v on your keyboard. I then highlight the text and click the italics button.

Macs are similar but have different keyboard short cuts.

I hope this helps.

But, I do like the Bielefelder, too....
however, I would need Welsummers to add to the "equipment."

I might be able to bring you a couple of chicks when I meet you. How serious are you? (picture me with wiggling eyebrows and rubbing my hands together mischievously)

I have 97 posts to catch up on...mad, mad posters I say! LOL!!

Tell me about it! I get sent to bed for a few days and catching up takes hours!!!

Edited the word 'be' to make sense...to 'bed.' Sheesh.

The part the map doesn't show is the stretch between Placerville & Auburn includes a drop into the South Fork of the American River at the bottom of a deep canyon. From my direction it's switch backs all the way down and clinging to the side of a cliff on the way back up into the back door of Auburn. Of course, you get to pass the exact spot where gold was first discovered in CA which led to the Gold Rush. I've been gold panning there several times with only a few gold flakes to show for it.

Ok, here is a Satellite map of the area. You can't really see the drop into the canyon, but it looks like a great trip. I feel road trip coming on.

Maybe I will bring lunch and eat it at the Marshal gold Discovery park.

I live in Somerset, and my commute to work in Sacramento is 52 miles one way. Oddly enough, my commute home is also 52 miles in the other direction. :D

I drive the Jackson Highway, State Route 16. Beautiful commute! There are specific sites I look for every single drive in the daylight. (Not much of that this time of year, though.) I am learning who has chickens along that route. :p

I watch for herons and wild ducks and geese at every pond.

Almost very day, I must swerve around some suicidal doe and her fawns or friends - occasionally a buck is on the side of the road, contemplating crossing it. Just as cars pass, of course.

It bothered me, too, that Placerville is in El Dorado, not Placer county. How dumb is that!?!?

Okay, I'm caught up again. I have a source for Icelandic eggs for the hatch!

Ok, I'm seriously considering taking out the egg turner for this hatch to fit more eggs in . The Euskal Oiloa are calling my name

eta: I already have lined up:

12 BC Marans
12 B/B/S Orps
18 Araucanas

am still trying to line up a few turkey eggs also ! So what's a dozen or so more, right?

It is a beautiful drive. If you take the route from Auburn, when you cross the bridge over the County line at the bottom of the gorge, picture that road surface ten feet under water. That happened during the big flood around 1980. I used to live on Lotus Rd for 19 years about 2 miles from where it adjoins Hwy 49.

Marshall Park is a great place for a picnic, but be armed and prepared for a huge flock of resident geese. There is also always a large herd of deer grazing amongst the settlers old abandoned fruit orchard. It's always a fun park during one of the many historical reenactment days.

Linda, you know what is really scary? My drive to work each day is 40 miles and my drive back is 40 miles!!!! We both have the same length drive to and from work. How amazing is that????

Worse, I work for El Dorado County, county seat is Placerville, I can't tell you how many times I receive phone calls from governmental agencies wanting Placer Co, and assuming since we are Placerville............ You would think the State would know!

Good thing I have a working relationship with my counterpart at Placer Co, I can just refer the call.
