On another note----

Does any one know . . . . I want to alter my sig line. How do we access now since the big change over?
Go to the "My Profile" tab, scroll down and near the bottom you will see "Your Forum Signature." It will show your current signature, and just below, it says, "Edit Signature Text." Click on that, and you will be brought to an editor just like a post editor.

I'm trying to find a puppy in the area

I'd try to find out what happened to the dog before getting another puppy. If in fact the dog was poisoned (intentionally or accidentally), you certainly wouldn't want to expose another dog to that.

Also, a bad case of heartworm could cause seizures. Your dogs aren't on preventative? They have to be treated year round here. If you can't afford the regular meds, you can treat them orally, monthly with Ivomec. That's what the livestock vet around here prescribes for dogs.

Funny how in recent years, Massachusetts seems to get hit with more snow than we do in Maine. Maybe not this year, but it seems a lot of place lack snow this year (except Alaska where they got slammed!) AK Michelle, I love the photos of the Icelandics in their new space. So fun to put chickens in a brand new clean environment ( not for long. :p ) I hope to have Icelandics someday.
And very soon I will be confident my Icelandic eggs are pure :weee

Coz74, that's a neat little candler.
AK Michelle, real nice coop, and I'm going to have to look into the wiz bang plucker, the DW was looking at the pluckers at Meyers the other day,I'd have to do a lot of butchering for one of those to pay for itself.

Edited because I just realized you meant the commercial plucker... This one is homemade and since most of the parts were scavenged or left overs from other projects, the man that built it said it was rather inexpensive. I'll see if I can get the directions today when I go to my friends for a visit.

To help pay for it they rent it to other chicken folks for a day or two at a time, just a thought.

I want to make this plucker!! Ihave an old washer in basement for it's parts. (Mainers don't throw away anything.) WIll check out the motor. Collected 2 sheets of 1/2 inch polyboard. Just made up the name--don't know what the correct term is fot his material. Waterproof and a bit flexible. Need a tub . . .hmmmm. . . .

THe fingers are made of what?? I have seen rubber bungees used in smaller versions.
They ordered them from a farm catalog, I'll get all the particulars at lunch and post here later today.
