!!!

I thought I heard peeping from the brinsea last night, which didnt make sense, as the next batch of eggs isnt due until next week.

Then I was on the phone with a customer, and she asked, "DO I HEAR PEEPING?!" So I turned around to look and I have 2 baby ducks!! MY FIRST HATCHED DUCKS!!

Now if only we could find my stinking camera so I could take some stinking pictures!!!!

Good morning (noon) everyone! The first chick out this morning hatched......BLACK!!!!!

It's one of my BA's eggs and I am so happy that the mystery has been solved and in my favor. All but one egg is pipped, but I'm just happy I got what I wanted. Pics to come soon!

DILEMMA!

I have a dozen duck eggs in the bator and chicken eggs on the way. I also have a broody in the coop! I have the humidity set about 70% in the bator and I believe this is too high for the chicken eggs as I place it that high during lock down. I can set some eggs under my broody if needed but can I place chicken eggs and duck eggs in the bator at the same time? if so what do I need to set the humidity at that will work for both ducks and chicks? This is my first batch of duck eggs so I am looking for advice from you guys the experts on this.

For those who double stack like that in a brinsea, do you leave it on the turner or go handturn all the eggs? seems they would roll around on a brinsea turner, which goes almost on its side.

Just my experience ... this is not advice.

When stacked (and actually, I think it's always stacked) I tilt the whole incubator. I do not have the turner, but it is designed to work just fine without an auto-turner as per manufacturer's instructions. I do have the rails in there for the first 24 (or so) eggs, then I stack on top of them. The eggs do gently clink together or against the inside of the lid when I tilt it ... I just try to stack them so that there is very little wiggle room and then slowly tilt. If there is too much movement on each tilt, then I rearrange. Have had great hatches with my Brinsea. I don't think anyone could tempt me to give up my Brinsea.

The only thing I've had trouble with, and this is entirely trouble of my own making, is that there are a few little pieces of plastic that hang down into the Brinsea from the ceiling. If an egg gets stacked right underneath one of those, then the lid won't fully shut and just that little smidgen (millimeters only) of the lid not getting shut goofs up the temperature inside of mine.

I was wondering about stacking in the hovabators - do you run the turner? If so, do you hand-turn the top eggs or do they roll back and forth with the lower ones?

Laree you can use one of my 5 or 6 cameras if you want to come get one
