Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

HappyHens.......... The turkey are a mix... and I know the hen is Royal Palm. I think the tom is bronze....something...something. Anyway, I am hatching for a friend. So will not be keeping these. I am interested in getting some turkey, just don't know what I want...something just for pretty in the yard. And something that doesn't get ginormous !

And Rare Breed......... 3 month old Pea chicks are about the size of a production hen. Had plastic down on the floor & furniture covered with sheets. Have to admit... I did miss them a little when they moved out.

Anyone here treat themselves to, well, their own cooking?

I think the biggest treatment I've gone to is Red Lobster's, several hours away too, but honestly I still prefer my own cooking.

I agree! Although its taken me many years to get to that point as I don't really like to cook. My husband, sweet man, says he always prefers my cooking to eating out - especially when the cooking is home grown roast chicken!

Thank you, I'll be really happy if it's 2 years! I didn't register it though, I don't remember anything coming with it saying I could. I guess I'll have to go hunting for the papers and try contacting the seller tomorrow. (Not Brinsea themselves, they don't ship direct to Aus)

*Sigh* Why do things like this always happen on weekends or after hours?

I hear ya! My layers coop has about 40 layers in it, and they are shelling out the eggs. My breeder pens, that I want to hatch from, are producing poorly. I'm lucky if I get a dozen eggs a day (that I want to hatch). My Icelandics are my top producers. I get at least a dozen eggs a day from that pen.
Kathy, how do you like your Icelandics? I think they are very interesting birds but have held off on trying them as I was worried about how they would handle Kentucky summers. How have they done for you?

Oh my! My DH thinks my wee chicklets are bad enough! I can imagine it however... have to be a special kind of animal lover I think and he's not.

As for the turkeys, I just loved Royal Palms from the first time I saw a pic of them. I never wanted turkeys till I saw those beauties.

I do like the Royal Slate turkeys. Very Pretty. I just came across an ed in CL from someone looking for a person to hatch their Lady Amherst Pheasants. For every 4 chicks you get one. Is this a normal arrangement? Any opinions?
