Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Sad morning this morning, just got back from taking DD to school and found one of my rabbits dead and another one missing. I am seriously dreading telling the kids......

Oh, dear. I hope it went well when you told the kids. Sorry. So sad.

I had the LONGEST, most awesome post ready to go and somehow I lost it. I HATE when that happens.

So I'm still waiting for eggs tomorrow from Wickenburg...sulmtalers and cubalayas from ca and the Grab Bag Box of Eggs from Renee... and last I checked the box was still in KC.... crossing my fingers it will get her by Saturday at noon.

What I did get in the mail today. 47 eggs total from:

Maryland
Peachick: 14 Gorgeous Blue Eggs (W/BW Ameraucanas) I always LOVE getting her eggs and then a surprise!
6 Black/Blue Sumatras! (Have you ever seen pics of these GORGEOUS BIRDS! WOW!)

San Dieggo
WhiteMountainsRanch: 11 Awesome Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs. She gave me these specifically for the Easter Hatch-a-long. The Blue Wheaten Roo over her Blue Wheaten girls is real EYE CANDY and is a son of my Geoffrey that I purchased from Jean (Geoffrey passed not long ago in Heber, AZ)

N. Illinois
NotAFarm: 16 WONDERFUL ICELANDICS!... 9 eggs of which came from the Drekki pen!! One of the most beautiful roos on the planet.
AND 12 Easter Eggs. When my wife saw them she said, "You guys are chicken crazy, but she knows her chocolate!" She sent me all of this FREE of charge.... THANK YOU!

Still awaiting Kansas and Wickenburg!

Pics: enjoy.

DW's favorite part of the egg shipment from Illinois

I begged to eat the chocolate egg on the lower right. DELISH!

47 eggs here.. I have room for another 28... if I get much more than that, I'll be taking a trip to Larees to add eggs to one of her bators!

They are in Phoenix Renee!!

My sandhill chick order arrived this morning, and instead of the 25 mixed jaerhons and rosecombed colored dorkings I ordered, he sent me 47 chicks
ep.gif
- he didn't have any of the dorkings I wanted so shipped extras. Some are mystery chicks, as the packing list only has 37 listed. Well they will be fun to watch grown anyway.

So, help me out ... I get confused easily ... instead of 25 mixed Jaers and RCC Dorkings, he sent you 47 mystery chicks? Or did he send you some of the Jaers? Have you figured out what the mystery chicks are? ... I kinda thought he usually labeled the replacements. How much fun to get mystery chicks
wee.gif
(once you get over the dissappointment of not getting the RCC Dorkings). How long did you have to wait on the Jaers (if you got some)? I have a friend that was going to order some from Ideal this spring, but waited to long and now they're not available until May or later. I wonder if she ordered some Jaers from Sand Hill now if she would get them next spring 2013).

Heres in my 3rd photo for the calendar contest.

Oh, that's a cutie pie photo.

I want guineas so bad! Hubby on the other hand not so much... We had a couple of calves and didn't have any chickens in the coop so we used it as feed storage. Well one evening hubby and my 6 year old son stroll out there to feed and both of them were chased out of the coop by a guinea squawking and flapping. (really I think it was running also, they just happened to be in front of it) They refused to feed from then on unless we moved the feed, so I fed and just stepped out of the way of the door as it went by instead of standing in it screaming like a school girl. The guinea wasn't even ours lol. It and 1 other always made an appearance on their way through our place twice a day. Something happened to 1 of them, I guess a dog got it

, and the other guinea decided our place was as good as any. So fed it and let it stay, but all the doors were open so it could leave at any time. It eventually disappeared, but now a year later hubby and my son are still on the look out for stray guineas.

Maybe I'll have to order some eggs and get some "mystery" eggs that just so happen to be guineas... how was I to know? lol

Funny story. Roaming pair of desperado Guineas. Your husband and son sound well and truly traumatized. But I bet they would love Guineas that were raised from chicks at your place. Don't ya think?

Here is my submission for the calendar "First Day of Spring" Looks like love is in the air!

They are in love and are beautiful.
