Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I am setting seramas and quail still...and actually I'm waiting on the quail which are MIA. Soooo...i'm sure they'll be old and beat up when they get here!! As soon as I know I'll finish the form.

Tomatos, strawberries, and flowers planted so far. And that's just my mom and dad's plants. I don't have any peat pellets so I can't get my herbs started. I guess there won't be any sage and thyme this year.

Gosh, I would love to be able to grow sage and thyme ! I have a hard time with herbs. Most other things I can manage, so I just buy the fresh herbs. What are the tricks to growing herbs??

Got all the Icelandics turned and the temp is holding at 100*. Funny thing though, the humidity said 38% before I turned them and 40% after

not sure what THAT's about. But now I see even in a forced air I should keep it down around 20 for now so I won't be adding anymore water for awhile. Hopefully our weather will warm up soon so the relative humidity will come up and then water in the bator will be irrelevant.

I have 246 unread posts, and by the time I get this posted, there will probably be 300! Anyway, here is the picture of my eggs. I was waiting because my pheasants JUST started laying the 16th (at least 1 has), and I was hoping for one more, but with snow this morning, I think they/she have decided to wait for awhile. If I get one later today, I will stick it in. Since they take 23 - 24 days, they are going to be after Easter anyway.

Shipped:
16 Araucana - from Ray_n_Debi (bunch of really neat colors

27 28 Total (No tetris for me - this time anyway!)

Now I can fill out my form!!
What are the colored cups for??

I more than made up for it on my duck hatch though... 4 boys, 1 girl.

Hope duck's delicious.

Duck is very good--very, very good! If you like dark meat.

Well, another 20 minutes have passed AND.... the Spot Check is saying 100.1, I'm thinking that's a miracle.

I'll continue monitoring and if it goes over 100.5, I may go back and do the 2,4,6,8 thing and then put it on "7" again... and pray.

I'm glad there are folks out there with positive thoughts for all of those wonderful WMR and Chookschicks and Audin Icelandic eggs!

So since I started, "fiddling" with the toggles. I've finally found one setting where I could get it to go over 99.0 and stay there after twenty minutes.

I kept it on. Shut everything off. toggled 2, 4, 6 & 8. Waited for it to flash 3 times. and then I turned on the "8" !
(I previously tried the EXACT same procedure with a 5, 6 and 7. After 20 minutes it would go back to 96 or 97 degrees.)
Oh and all of this plugged into another outlet... just for poops and giggles.

It's now been steady for 20 minutes at 99.7 with the spot check. 99. 5 with one Radio Shack, 101 with another Wal-mart and 100.7 with another thermometer (no clue where that was bought). I'm believing the Brinsea Spot check. I PRAY it's right!

I hatched some of WMR's Wheaten/Blue Wheaten eggs in Feb, here is the only BW roo

I think he's a cutie. Of 6 eggs, 4 are roos and only 2 hens.
