Ok...now I had two questions if I can remember them....

other question...other question...dang..what was it...GAHHHHH Senior moment...Better go look for my keys now, someone remind me where I put them after I find them.

150 some odd posts today. NOT EASY to catch up... only had 1 patient today that didn't show and none cancelled. I'm really tired. Got 9 eggs today.

Here's my total of eggs pulled. Now mind you, these are the white ones. There are few dark ones I am pretty sure aren't developing but I want to be safe.

Crazy Pet Lady- 1 Clear 11 Developing

Bhep- 8 Clear (polishXsilkie and LavxPolish the rest seramas) 5 Quit (seramas) Leaving me with 16 developing

Gabbard Farms- 12 Clear (too many to list) 2 Quit Leaving me with 10 Developing

Quail Eggs can't candle, so 38 developing

Local Eggs almost all are dark so its hard to say but as of right now 36 are developing.

Out of 138 set- 28 pulled Leaving 110 still good.

Not being able to adequately candle the quail or dark eggs definitely affects this. But if my math is right, thats 79% going strong. But...I have air cell issues. My eggs have big dips in the air cells on some of the eggs. Not like a damaged air cell but just like when the chicks are about to hatch, you know how there's a dip. Its like that. So half the air cell takes up the egg. I cna't imagine an embryo surviving once it gets bigger. But right now, they are doing well. One egg is so clear that I can see the embryo attached to its umbilical cord! Its funny because it moves away and the cord will tighen and spring it back. Its soo flipping adorable and amazing. I don't want it to die! Anyone know whats up with the aircell?

Today's candling was bittersweet. Pulled lots of clears and several duds.

E-bay eggs: Started with 24; pulled 1 clear and 6 quitters; Left with 18
Local eggs: Started with 41; pulled 8 clear and 6 quitters; left with 27
Various shipped egg: Started with 36; pulled 20 clear and 5 quitters; left with 11

Razadia's Eggs (local): Started with 12; Left with 12

CrazyPetLady's Eggs (shipped): Started with 12; pulled 3 clear and 5 quitters; left with 4
Arielle's eggs (shipped): Started with 16; pulled 1 clear and 1 quitter; left with 14
BHep's eggs (shipped): Started with 14; pulled 6 clear and 1 quitter; left with 7

Overall I started with 155 egg and ended up with 93. With most of these being shipped eggs, I think the percentage is not too bad. I do see a trend with certain states having lower percentages than others. I wonder if it has to do with the PO or the amount of handling.
If you aren't careful they'll all hatch.

I swear the only way you could kill them is to have a cat sleep on the bator. That happened on my first hatch. (which turned out bad, but that was my fault) second time around I had mostly pullet eggs and it ended in a 100% hatch. Only problem is getting rid of the roos. No one seems to want them and I suppose their bad rep has something to do with that. Maybe you'll get lucky and end up with all pullets and maybe one of the pretty white roos that seem to come with every hatch.

Nope, not easy to catch up. It's really not easy when you have to share every computer in the house with someone.

I candled my 7 W/BWA from chicken junkies tonight.
4 of the 7 look really good. Good development and movement.

The other 3 have developed, but the air sacs are quite detached, so I did not see any movement, but I'm keeping my hopes up!

The good news is NO CLEARS!!
After my last experience of candling some expensive eggs only to see all clears and being quite traumatized, I'm on the road to recovery!!

Well I lost a lot of eggs due to infertility and a few early death! I definitely won't be in the top anything! I am not all that surprised because of the flood and the stress of having to move them because of it. This hatch has also proved that one of girls who is producing the most eggs is infertile, 1/3 of the 29 I set were hers none of them are fertile and i have seen my EE cockerel mount and do the deed with her numerous times before and after setting the eggs. as for the bantam eggs I think my little cockerel was just learning to do the deed, so all but 3 of those eggs were infertile. I did however have my young black silkie cockerel in that pen too so we will see who is the daddy of those. In my original bantam pen all eggs I was able to collect are fertile, His girls had only just started laying again right before the flood

I am down to 19 Standard Eggs and 13 Bantam, started out with 29 of each

Goodnight everyone. Not off to bed yet, but I will be soon.

I would love to get a good night's sleep. Last night it was so windy here I kept waking up thinking someone was outside huffing and puffing trying to blow my house down. Then I start thinking and sleep is over. The night before, I'm up after 3 hours of sleep... no reason for it.

Boyfriends in a NyQuil coma so at least my tossing and turning doesn't affect him.

I was up at 3AM today. Yawn. Gave up trying to get back to sleep and just went with it. Windy here too - hope everything is still standing outside!

Everything appears to be standing here, already went out to do the poultry chores. Unfortunately it's about 18 degrees out there, so I'm going to go out on a limb here and state that the seeds I planted on Saturday out in the garden are probably not going to fare well, despite a frost blanket and a bucket of hot water that I put out there last night that's now frozen solid.
