I'm hoping. Dad's the one that loves ducks, so he has no problem getting more. In fact, he plans on getting two female mallards. I'm not really a duck person though. Not after Aflac and Mel popped me in the face with they're wings when I moved them out of the game pen. At least my game hens are happier now.

As I mentioned on Monday, I made an appointment to assist my ailing Himalayan across the Rainbow Bridge. (Yes, Deb, it was the Pleasant Valley Vet Hospital, thanks for the recommendation!)

Well, His Smudgeness decided to cross without any assistance about two hours before that appointment. He chose my bedroom closet as his place of departure.

My very good friends HHandbasket and Farmer Lew came over in the evening to dig Smudge's grave and perform a Native American burial, complete with burning sage, offerings for the Cedar under which we placed him, and sang the Traveling Song for his spirit.

Smudge, as was usual for him, just wanted to do it his way.

Sorry for your loss, but glad he was able to pass at home.

Maybe, you making the appointment was giving him permission to go, so he did..........

It is all in the diet!!! It's all about making the effort to change the food. Dr Atkins isn't alone in recommending the low carb diet ( as in what we eat for life). I don't eat a lot of bacon, but I sure eat a lot of eggs!!!

Just had scrambled eggs with feta and fresh majorum, and OO drizzled on top. SOmetimes I add a few brine cured olives, too.

I stopped listening to the AMerican DIabetes ***** and American DIeticians recommendations 10 years ago. High carbs do not work for me.

Brain will always make sure it gets the fuel it needs. Seems to me this high carb diet is relatively new . . . did brains not work on eggs, meat, fats and more meat??? Meats break down into glucose, so the brain gets what it needs while avoiding the insulin spikes caused by high carb foods.

It's so nice to know I am not the only one.

I had asparagrass with a little dried onion and cream cheese with my egg this morning. It was a super big round egg from one of my Turkens. I also had two strips of bacon. My cholesterol is in very good shape so all the fat I eat isnt effecting it. I don't use most of the Atkins recipes anymore if they have soy in them. It is not good for my thyroid. It is already bad so don't want to make it worse.

Does this mean we'll get another chapter in the story of the working emus as you sort out the sand ?????

Well, they did survey the job......

Fred was really diggin' in, too.......

Wilma, on the other hand, preferred to terrorize and chase chickens......

And lounge around; demanding Fred be by her side.........

Like all good men, he does as she requests and stands by her side.......
