Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

It works it works! AFter trying to post ALLLLLLLLL DAY. Congrats on you pips zips and hatches. I have 1 EE hatched, 1 EE zipping, 1 EE pipped, and 2 polish (I think) pipped. All from Bhep. Nothing from anyone else. But tomorrow is hatch day and i'm sure they'll all be following shortly. I had a lot of comments on peoples posts but alas, they are lost. Not being able to talk to you guys really sucked. I felt all left out!!! But my hatched EE pipped early this morning and did nothing alllll day. Then he zipped really quick but I actually got to watch it. And he kinda unfolded out of his shell and out came this HUGE feet. They look like dinosaur feet on his tiny little frame. HE'S SO CUTE. I'm thrilled. EE number 2 is not far behind him.

Nothing from my hovabator with the crazy heat spikes. No peeping, no pipping, no rocking. And nothing from my quail or seramas. They were set on the 19th and 20th so they'd be due to hatch tomorrow but I thought I'd have something by now. My seramas filled the eggs the most at lockdown. I just want 2...they're soooo cute.

Hey birdguy...see you on the Utah thread...so, 85 eggs?? What are you going to do with all of those birds? Oh wait, is there something going on in Idaho soon?

Hope I'm not behind in the times and it already happened? Wish I had room for that many chicks..I would sooo have a lot of chickens.

Now that you mention it Cynthia.. there is something going on in Idaho 4 weeks from tomorrow morning!! The 1st Annual Rocky Mountain Chickenstock!! For those of you who haven't heard about it or the incredible raffle prizes (you don't need to be present to win!!) check out the links in my signature..

In addition to the 85 in lockdown, I have another 6 dozen plus that went in on Wednesday and will be setting another 10 dozen plus this coming Wednesday.. I also have at least 75 chicks coming from Pine Pride next week and 100 from Estes coming in 3 weeks.. We are giving chicks away to all the 4H kids who come to the Chickenstock that they can raise and then show at their County Fairs this Fall. It's going to be a fuzzy butt paradise for the next month!!!

Scratch that...I have 2 EE's hatched. And they are wreaking havoc on the other eggs. 2 of the pipped ones are now upside down! Last time I had that happen the chick drowned. Trying not to panic. Taking deep breaths.

I told DH next time I hatched I was going to move the bator to the living room during lockdown because they are sooo loud. Of course, I forgot. So...its reallllly loud in there. would it be safe to unplug and pick up the whole bator and take it to the living room? Its only gonna take a few seconds, but will the jarring bother them? I wouldn't think so since Big Foot and sister are playing soccer.

I figure mine must have been running at 101 almost the entire time

Well mine is a still air and its been at 99-101 at the top of the eggs except for the dramatic 91 - 107 temp swings! I really hope they didn't get killed from that. Maybe if I move the LG into the living room with the Hovabator, the adorable but annoyingly loud chicks will kick the others into gear!

I had an unplugged bator for a bit...a long bit.....I thought I lost my eggs but upon opening one today i found a live chick. But it looked too early..and I lost it......if the temps got low would it make the hatch run later than normal? How late if so? Any input appreciated here. I had more eggs to put in but have to get these hatched and out first.....so I am wondering how late this could go.
