Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I'll take a stab at it> First chick: the black chick from the beige egg could be BSL x BA or BSL x RIR , see if any barring develops. The second chick with the feathered legs is fathered by the FBCM !! THe eggs will be a brown egg with a thin layer of chocolate coating, that's what mine do anyway. I love the barnyard beauties mix--each is unique!

Awesome! I am looking forward to these little cuties growing up! We have RIR in the coop, but none of the others, so they will truly be unique for us...!

...just so you know... I am completely smitten by them already...

Lisa, can you wait a couple of days longer? If you can, I would wait for two more days. I'm sure that they were slowed down from being cooled off that much. And actually, when you think about it, opening that one really helped you to know something, that if it wasn't quite ready yet, then the others probably aren't either. Give them a bit longer. Sounds like you have some nice babies in there.

I hope so. This one was so beautiful, I am so sad I lost it. I googled and read someone who did not get hatched eggs until day 25 so now I am worried this may go longer than I had planned....the other four are supposed to go to lockdown tomorrow night so they are going to be late, I feel like i have to choose one batch or the other....the four for tomorrow are all alive and looking good, i do not dare candle the ones in lockdown. So i do not know what to do! Next time I will make sure there is more time in between batches.

I had my first pips yesterday afternoon and both hatched out today. Both are partridge silkies. I don't see any more pips, yet, but will probably start seeing more tomorrow. I had 22 of 43 make it to lockdown - 11 silkies, 5 cochin, and 6 button quail, although I don't expect anything from the quail.

I am not sure what I am thinking. I have 28 turkey eggs waiting to go into the incubator on Sunday. These chicks better kick it into overdrive so I can get the incubator cleaned for Sunday.
