Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

My DH brought home two loads of sand for me, and we dumped them in the run. I probably need 3 more to COVER the run, but I don't think the chickens care.

The other day I moved 6 wheelbarrows of chicken compost to the "old" compost spot--so it can cook over the summer. I am still sore from all that, but for some reason I decided it would be a good idea to pull carrots and plant onions.

Me + Squatting = toppling.

How is everyone doing today?

Doing good here. Have been enjoying reading all the posts. Snow and winter weather advisory for this evening/tonight. I'm glad I can sit here and read BYC posts and don't have to be out in it!

33 eggs in the incubator due to hatch next Saturday and progressing nicely. Collecting eggs to ship next week and shopping for Ameraucana eggs. Enjoying the fire in the stove and watching the snow fall down outside . . . ahhhh!

I'm doing fantastic - it's Friday and I don't work the weekend, nor does the boyfriend. I was just out cleaning the coops and doing the poultry chores. FatOne and Tonya Harding Chicken are becoming quite adept at their "trick" - they love to snuggle and ride on us humans (what we here refer to here as 'mobile heated roosts'). I've "taught" them that if I lift my arm to the side it's ok to jump on it - and both did today... I had one on my right arm and one on my left.

In these instances I'm glad I don't have neighbors that can see me although it really makes me giggle.

Gotta go finish some indoor chores now, bring up some wood and start a fire. Ah, winter.

Anyone who joins MrHeinz77's swap has a chance of getting eggs from me: the ultimate in mutts - most likely colored layers with a moderate risk of turkens.

Where do I find MrHeinz77's swap? Link please.

Carrots - onions - gardening - argh! 14 degrees here with a cold north wind. Chickens refused to leave the shelter of the coop even for scratch. The snow does look beautiful under a full moon, though.

Laree... I'm doing fantastic.. I thought I already answered this but the post didn't show up!

I hiked Squaw Peak this morning. Had a cheese omelet for breakfast. Did honey-do's,
Fixed the light in the boys bedroom, fixed one of the beds in the boys bedroom...

Still waiting for my replacement bulb for the big screen TV in my bedroom... it's suppose to come on Monday I guess.

Fed the new years day and the ground hogs day chicks. Gathered eggs... got EIGHT today... wahoo.

Hand fed some bread and some egg and cheese burritos (left overs from the school across the street) to my NYD chicks.
They practically attack me when they see me bring something into the grow out pen.

Fixed my EcoGlow brooder... somehow the cord got slit and so I had to put it back together with some little wire nuts and duct tape.

It is an UNBELIEVABLE 80 degrees out there right now. My garden is really growing with all of this warm weather. I'm constantly picking broccoli. I LOVE IT. Picked some peppers too... and a tomato... ate the tomato right there in the backyard, don't want DW to know they are ripening or I'll never get to eat them! I've got to harvest some lettuce it has REALLY grown!

Tomorrow is the AZ Poultry Show at the state fairgrounds... I have to work from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM so I'll go after that.

Hope you are all having a great day too!

Doesn't it!! It's as bright as daylight and the shadows the trees cast are such a constrast on the bright white snow.....it's art!

80 degrees! :th
Its 18 degrees up here with bad roads as there is a snowstorm going on quite heavily. brrr But like 1muttsfan said, it sure is pretty with the full moon. :)
