Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Just kidding, you know I would croak if it snowed.

So I guess you'll never be visiting us here in New England?

Got my 3 dozen EO eggs ordered and paid for, and some Am/EE eggs lined up from a BYC member over the bridge. Still hoping to get some bantam cochin eggs, but it is very hard to find the brown reds I would like get. Last year I hatched out 5 dozen cochin eggs, and only got one BR pullet - that was killed by a weasel the night after moving them to the coop, due to a door being left open my a friend of mine who keeps horses here

. Not sure if I want to put in that much time, effort and $ again this year.

It was 7 degrees here this morning, the girls came flying out as soon as the pop door was open to scratch around in the hay spread in the run. They don't mind the cold, but don't like wind, yesterday they would not set foot outside.

I'm still in, but will probably be my own eggs. Broke my arm at the wrist and I was working on getting my hoop coops up so I could separate breeds. Yeah, that ain't happenin too soo, so although I do have some separated, I'll be hatching a bunch of EE's and OEs probably. Hoping my Sliver Phoenix and Sumatras give me something to hatch. I have at least 1 SPPR laying, so might have a few of those, but this bites!

I have this fantastic onesie that I wear to bed when it's really cold - only my head and hands are exposed. It's fantastic except for those times when you wake up to Ihavetopeesobad. I'd still rather be too cold than too hot. One can only remove so many layers of clothing. I can always put more layers on, use an electric blanket or turn up the stove(s).
