I do all sorts of stuff 'wrong' when I hatch and I generally get great hatch rates - I open my incubator and candle/sniff at least twice , do dry hatches until lockdown and I (GASP!) will open the incubator when there's about 10 dry chicks to get the fluffers out. My brinsea is too crowded after about 10 little ones hatch and the rest hatch just fine.
I also occasionally will help one out like I did today when I had a mega chick that pipped on the wrong end - it was my fault it was like that most likely as I cracked the egg before I set it. So it was sealed up with scotch tape.. and it still hatched, with a lil help.
Probably depends on the bator too - my brinsea holds and gets back up to proper temp and humidity very quickly. I'd probably be more careful in a styrobator.
