Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Now you need to paint some hash marks on the grass, put a football on a tee and put him out there.....it is a he isn't it?!

Yes a bantam spangled Cornish rooster. Lives in the house with his GF.

GHep, you get my vote for August ! ANd I hate football, but this patient bird looks hilarious!

Ok. I'm in. Officially. Hoping the Ameraucana/EE will start laying soon. THey are young pullets and better get a move on. Need large eggs for this project; pullet eggs go in the egg cartons, not the incubator. Maybe they need a little more light! ANyone know how much light and how long bfore the eggs start showing up??

Mahonri I so wanted to post a potty puppy pic, but glad it was you.

For just over a year and a half I have had no kind of life and it's bothered me so much until I saw what's been posted while I was gone. BUT.......some of you just have too much time on your hands!

Just Kidding! Love the pics!

Welcome to the hatch!

dsqard nor The Sheriff posted the famous "fake newpaper article" this year... Or did I miss it?

Nifty was looking forward to this hatch's addition.....

If it's been posted, lead me to it and I'll add it to POST #1

Oh, I get plenty of eggs. That's the problem, I have lots of chickens. But hatching my own eggs isn't as fun as hatching mystery eggs sent from all over the US. =)

Perfect spot for me to mark my place, because what featherz posted so resonates with me! I have never incubated eggs from my flock (but other folks have, and with great success) - I just let this or that broody take care of "my" - "their" eggs. I wanna incubate and hatch OTHER folks' eggs to add new breeds or more representatives of this or that breed to my flock.

It's been a LONG day : Two funerals and a baptism. Then tomorrow the first church meeting starts for me at 7AM and we'll be done at Noon. I've already got Sunday dinner ready to put into the oven, I just have to put the finishing touches on my Sunday School lesson.

Our dog Lilly is getting HUGE... she is about 10 days away from having a litter of puppies.... I was ready to slay DS #5 when he took our beautiful red Golden Retriever and let her spend time with a large Chocolate Lab on the next street over. We already have homes for 3 of the puppies, I hope that's all she has... this will be her one and ONLY litter.

Moved my Ground Hog's Day chicks from the Laree brooder into grow out pen #1 after moving all of the rest of the NYD hatch birds to GOP #2.... Now is when I've got to start seeing which ones are roos and which ones ones I'll keep for the layer coop and which Icelandic roo and Ameraucana roo will be the lucky guys to go through the decrow operation... I think with the FBCMs I hatched there is one roo and one pullet.... I'll keep the roo till he crows and then he's gone.

Looks like everyone has gone to bed.... I'm tired... GOOD NIGHT!
