Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Never made it to the auction. Picked up my daughter and Kayla and dropped daughter's boyfriend off near town. Since it was right there I decided we needed A&W, so we stopped for floats and ended up eating. Figured I'd pick up #50 of scratch since the bf will be coming by to pick u my daughter and Makayla jumed out of the car saying she needed more chickens to show. Thought I was safe, but no. She has a little MG roo and they had a bunch of matching hens, so ended up with 2 MG hens. I was out for feed, not out to feed more. Oh well, they sell so fast there and I had gone back for a couple after I bought her roo, so at least she has them now. That means maybe some more eggs to hatch

Good day everyone! I just moved some 1 wk old chicks out to a brooder in the workshop, boy will it be a surprise to the 7wk olders (who free range days) to discover they've been booted out and will have to sleep in the coop tonight. I'm in awe of you folks who do so many hatches, you must be shuffling chicks and chickens constantly!

Oh, I thought I got away with copying and pasting a photo on this IPad, but it can't be done. I have to e-mail the photo to myself and open it on the other computer, and then I can post it. Maybe tomorrow...

Well today was nice, the chicks and broody are doing good.I am just done with the rest of the chickens, they are sleeping everywhere! I grabed them all and locked them in the coop, they'l be in there for the next week learning where to sleep again...........Now, my pullets just stated laying, but I will only trust some of the pullets eggs for incubation. Im thinking about buying some fertile TJ eggs soon for the hatch-along, but I dont want to have white leghorns, does anybody know if Trader Joes has any other breed of eggs other than the white leghorns?

Well, thanks to a message left on my cell phone by Laree... I did some travelin' today.

The SFH with the crooked toes died today... it was just never right.... So I drove from my office to 167th Ave. and Durango. (That's like half way to Cali) and I brought home two cute SFH chicks and a white Am chick. I put them in with the GHD chicks and they acted like they belonged.... and the SFH chicks are SO BEAUTIFUL... I hope they are both pullets so I can put them with the one (roo I think) that survived that I was given/got courtesy of The Sheriff! They are real eye candy.

Seems to me that folks have hatched red and black chicks from them- there's a tj's hatch thread somewhere and pics of chicks.
