Last year I had 2 roosters in a pen with 12 hens. Darned if I could get a fertile egg. Every time one would mount a hen, the other male would come knock him off. It took me forever to figure out the problem. Finally, I removed one, and got fertile eggs! I know this is not "the norm," but it happened to me in one of my breeder pens.

Hmmm. Good job (at figuring out that problem). Thanks for the tip. Something else to watch out for.

Awww, they're just babies. November 20 hatch.

Those Brahmas are beautiful! I can't wait to get more Brahmas, hopefully this summer.

I have a buff brahma. She has only laid TWO eggs for as long as I've owned her.
Her name is Aunt B. I'm thinking the B will stand for 'Braised" soon.

This is the sky this morning at our house..........we are under a Winter Weather Advisory for this evening and tonight....4-8 inches of snow and windy.......I just hope we don't lose power....I've got some eggs going in the 'bator!

Talli's rooster - the only actual house chicken we have...

(And, yes, that is quite a litter of dog toys behind her. She has a little basket there which she sometimes empties and plays with each toy in turn...

My Bella has a whole basket of toys too, but pretty much plays with only one at a time - compulsively, or course. I see your Talli has special heeler laser ESP vision too.

Well hi for the day, folks. Am mega busy over the next couple of days, so will do my best to keep up.

Am just wondering if anyone is setting anything really special this hatch? Who has eggs travelling the longest distance?
