Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I am in the 128th ARW in Milwaukee, and I can assure you that the Maineiacs logo (101 ARW) is plastered around the world. I have seen it all over Europe, Asia and the Middle East. I still look foward to stopping there so we can load up on lobsters.

I used to live on Grand Parkway... between Blue Mound Road and Wisconsin Avenue and between 68th and 70th Streets in Wauwatosa... when I attended MUSOD.

I lived in Bangor until 1986, not too far from the river. I am in the 128th ARW in Milwaukee, and I can assure you that the Maineiacs logo (101 ARW) is plastered around the world. I lived in Bangor as a kid. Then moved to the Island. Fun to take my kids back for a visit. I remember my DS as a 6 yr old wanting a lobster, so I indulged him. He wouldn't eat it!! All the more for me.

He has since acquired a taste for lobster and had a 5 pounder for his last birthday present. He's been pressing me for another one. He's had to do extra chores (collecting the eggs) to earn the money this time. Even little brother is helping, because he will get to crack it open. He won't eat it though. Yup, nothing like lobsta !

So I went to Rural King yesterday to buy some chicks to put with my silkies, I ended up buying 10 (3 Rhode Island Reds,3 red sex-links, 3 d'Uccles, and 1 tiny silver sebright).Well, I ran out of chick feed today and had to go buy more. I went to Royal King and bought the chick feed..........and looked at the chicks...............I just looked at them

......... Okay, so maybe I bought 6 more chicks

. I got 2 Barred Rocks, 1 EE, 2 d'Uccles, and 1 unknown breed.

I went to the feed store today to buy another bucket of lamb milk replacer for our bottle lamb, hopefully he'll be weaned after this bucket (at $29 per bucket).

Anyway, they had chicks in, EE, RIR, BR & something else, I forget. I wasn't even tempted. Tonight I need to candle the 111 eggs I have "cooking" at the moment.

Yikes, maybe it's a good thing they are shipped eggs and my hatch rate will be reduced.....

I know this may sound strange to people living where there are actual seasons but here there are basically two. Tolerably nice (which can range from freezing to springlike) and Hades miserable. When it is tolerably nice we tend to forget about Hades and when it is Hades hot we forget it ever gets tolerably nice.

Pretty much the same over here.........the only "winter" months we get is December, and part of January. By Feb. its springtime(nice and warm 60-80 degrees) and it stays that way until April. Once it's May.....it is HOT all they way til October , then the tolerably nice weather comes again

I look at the ordering book sitting on the desk EVERY time I go to the feed store. WHen the chicks come in I will be in even more trouble. Temptation is a terrible thing.
