Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

I haven't joined the hatch along but still might. I want mine to hatch a bit before Easter tho. I plugged hi the bator tonight and getting eggs on Sunday. Will have a few goose eggs in there too. I need some babies to use in Easter pictures so I need them in advance of Easter! But I will be reading!

Is anybody starting to save eggs yet? I'm thinking of starting to save some towards the end of next week.

Nope. Although I did have some eggs more than two weeks old hatch last week. Two were 16 days old and one was 15 days old. They hatched a little late and surprised me.

I usually like to start saving at two weeks before I plan to set the eggs just in case the hens suddenly decide to go on strike and not give me any eggs right before the hatch. Two week old eggs don't do too poorly. Ten days or less is quite a bit better though. Some ag college did a study a while back (maybe a long time ago--I can't remember) with all the specifics and percentages and published it online.

We are all trying to hatch the DAY BEFORE EASTER... Will that work for you?

Set March 17.
1st Candle March 27
Last Candle April 4th.
Hatch April 7th.

So where can I get some eggs?

It's a project I'm working on, so I'm the only one with them so far, but they are on Spring Break, apparently, as I've had nearly a complete halt to the eggs. I don't know what's up, as a lot of my birds are stopped.

I have a set reserved for the hatch already, but if they pick up I may be able to provide another 6- I don't want to promise though, as I'd hate to leave you in the lurch.
