Been gone all day, and seemed like a gazillion posts to read to get here, but the thread count says it was a few less than that.

Welcome newcomers!

Sorry some suffered through storms, and storm damages or added work, and I pray everyone here is well.............................. I know there have been human lives lost and others injured or now homeless from the past two days of weather, and it makes me sad to hear about it.

I've decided I am going to make a trip out of meeting BYCers after I have retired. I think that would be a great vacation trip!

(Psssst: I retire in just under six months.)

Linda, You can come out here for the Rocky Mountain Chickenstock on May 5th if you want ot get an early start on your trip... or just stop in anytime!!!

That's funny, I thought it rhymed with my grandmother's pronunciation of ornery (two syllables orn-rey) with a "Ma" at the front!

At first, Mahonri reminded me of the angel at the bottom of Joseph Smith's bed. But I looked that up and that's Moroni. Close depending. So I looked up Mahonri, and lo and behold, Mahonri is Jared's brother, which is much easier to think through than Mahonri. Actually, easier to remember than Jared's brother is dentist-lots of sons/daughters-pool-garden-no drinking-puppies-chicken-lovin'-thrower of annual hatch-a-longs.

Well, it's time to hit the hay.

I certainly have enjoyed reading y'alls posts today.

Remember, if you haven't already done it, invite the rest of BYC to the Hatch-a-long in your signature... I've noticed that most of you have.

We are up to 178 participants as of today!... I'm thinking with two weeks remaining... we can hit 200!

Shucks next year we might even have 250... especially with all of the Brinsea incubators being sold.

I'll be using my Octogon 20 Advance Ex.... and my GQF 1588 Hovabators. I use the "Brinsea Spot check thermometer with my Octogon because for some reason it doesn't display the correct temp... but the Spot check helps me get it right and the humidity control for it is wonderful. With the Hovabator, I just have to use two or three thermometers and hygrometers and baby it a bit more.

But that's half the fun and then when I get real super neurotic, I always have Kathy and The Sheriff to keep me calm... along with the rest of you.

Well, nature has called and my oral hygiene is complete....

So it's Buenas noches mis amigos.. y hasta mañana!!!

LOVE THE YELLOW CAR SCENT TREE YOU HAVE

There's a very valid reason for that!! Vanilla makes flies and mosquitos vamoose. It is better if you use real vanilla, but even air fresheners work really well...Here, read this

She's got a deep-seated aggression against Kansans, as all Missouri-folk do...or so the Kansas University Basketball machine would have you believe!!

Next, I have 9 eggs on the counter. They are all from a hen I lost last week. I know that hatching eggs should be less than a week old but is there any chance these will hatch? Their mom was special.

It's definitely worth a try, as someone else mentioned. Recently, a couple of 16-day-old eggs hatched here in my styrobator, plus a number of eggs over 7 days old, but I usually keep them at around 60F (about? 15C) in a cool cupboard in the laundry room. I tilt the egg carton a different way every three days--usually I do it twice each day, but I've been slacking lately. So, I'd say you still have a very good chance of them hatching even though they were on the counter. Sorry about losing your hen. It's never easy.

Maw-hawn-rye ... there... does everyone have it straight?
Thanks for the correct pronunciation , now I know what to yell when I raise my fist to the heavens,as my incubator becomes full, and I consider buying a Brinsea incubator. Unrelated, I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning/checkup this week. When the Dentist asked me how I was,I said good, how are you, are you getting enough sleep? I wonder where that came from?
