Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

What is it about cats in Maine? My mothers coon cat lived to be 24ish, tough cat. Caught everything from mice to rabbits and flying squirrels and had to bring them in the house to show us. Not the friendliest cat, everything was on her terms. Everything. Miss her. Sorry to hear your cat is dying. . . . very hard to loose a member of the family.

Wow, it's good to see so much activity here today! We had a high today of 68 F and it really felt like Spring might be just around the corner!!

the computer widget tells me the high here was 85, but 2 of my big fat roosters thought they were going to just melt away, they acted like it was much hotter than it really was. better get used to the heat boys...

We are a dog and child-free household here. I am a cat person, but sadly, my cat is dying. The good news is that she is 21 and has lived a long, happy life. We're hoping she can die at home. We'll see.

All the talk about shipped eggs makes me nervous. I've only tried shipped eggs once, and I had good luck (10 of 13 hatched, 1 died after hatching). Unfortunately, 7 of the remaining 9 were roosters.

ronott, I am also getting eggs from skyline. I have more eggs coming from Puget Sound. We'll see how they all do!

I'M SORRY !!!!!!!!!!!! I KNOW WHAT THATS LIKE.

We are getting a record high tomorrow! That means I race around at 11am like an idiot taking blankets off horses, seeing all have extra water, setting up shade . . . . . spring is the hardest transition on the animals after a cold winter . . . and no shady trees to hide under yet like late spring. Ahhhhh, the fun of farm animals.
