my vet gave me a plan sheet quite a few years ago..it says for shipped eggs after the initial 24 hr rest period she had me place them in the forced airin turner but do not turn the turner on for the 1st 5 - 7 days depending on the damage..i have seen some pretty bad bubbly air cells heal as they grow and become surrounded by the veining..that gives embryo time to get a good start, after that a candeling and turner goes on..you will be suprised that those will hatch, hatch them in upright position in case air cell tends to travel a lot at lockdown time. we hatched a bunch of del eggs for a freind that were shipped.

You turned the turner off right? How do you have them laying in the bator? On their sides, in the turner or in cartons?

I took them out of the Turner and laid them on their sides.

Read through that cheetsheet. I have had horrible hatches and great hatches and I started using this sheet and it really helped.



OK I have eggs coming next week. I need more Black Tail Buff Japs so ordered a dozen from buzzard barn. He wasn;t sure he could get a full dozen in time, so BBS and blue Silkies have been added.

Oh!!!! I just remembered I did 2 swaps! Wonder what I'll get?????

At work and worried about the eggs....hope the humidy is coming up at home. This is sooo stressfull! lol Maybe I should quit my day job.

Just for kicks, turn off the incubator but don't open the top. Make some peep sounds and see if you get an answer.

You will need to give more information to the experts here. They will want to know if you used egg cartons. If you adjusted the temp when you removed the egg turner. What did you see in the eggs when you candled them to name a few. As much information as you can provide really.

21 days is an average. It seems like some breeds or lines in a breed will hatch earlier or later. In December I hatched EE's and Marans. The EE's started on day 20 and were through by day 21. My one of 3 Maran's that hatched, hatched on day 22.

Let me know if you hear any chirping in those eggs!

And of course, turn the incubator back on

 

K, so I used cartons during collection, wasn't as good as I should b about turning them during collection. Stored them on the counter. Candles a couple times but since I'm new I left all in because I wasn't 100% sure what I was seeing or not seeing. They were on an auto Turner during incubation.

Okay Im in!
Eggs are coming this week, eggs in the incubator are due to hatch on the 15th. Two broodies in the back to take care of eggs already in the incubator, just in case they want to hatch late.

I couldnt read all 360 pages, so I just took a wild guess on Mahonri's eggs and breeds, lol.

Mahonri doesn't know yet what he's setting. He is receiving shipped eggs from numerous places so......He will be posting on Saturday, March 17, then you can guess how many and what the first three out will be!

Submitted my guesses and have duck/geese eggs lines up for the bator. Now to find some interesting chicken breed eggs....shame there's no one around here with insight into that!

I've considered trying something like that so I probably will this time. Of course it doesn't help if they don't develop at all. The 12 Wheaten/Blue Wheaten Ameraucana eggs from peachick all clear at 9 days

That was an expensive flop. I wish you better luck Mahonri!
