Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Hahahahaha mahonri. You made me cry from laughing this morning. A broody momma? With all the eggs your setting you might need all 16 of your hens to go broody.

I'll bet she'll be a great mama... so far my Icelandic pullet has shown no signs of going broody... but wouldn't it be great if that happened sometime during the hatch so I'd have a mama to raise chicks!?!?!

I'm planning on one of my Ameraucanas to go broody, they always do in March or April. And they've really started laying well, I'm getting 10 eggs a day regularly, out of 16 hens.

Yeah, when I found out I could possibly get sulmtaler eggs, I thought, "WHERE AM I GOING TO PUT THEM?"

C'mon broodies!

I am feeling SO LAZY today. I only have patients from 9AM to 2PM... so only 5 hours of work... and I've got to talk my wife into cutting my shaggy head... my hair is getting so long I look like a hippie.

I'm hoping I can talk DW into going out tonight. We'll see. If not, I can always go out back and watch chicken TV.

I can't wait to see pics of Kathy's little emus, and I hope she gets a BOY and a GIRL... you have to have one of each to continue hatching! Gotta love those broody Emu boys!

Tomorrow it's patients from 7AM to 11AM and then DW and I are headed to Snowflake with a couple of our neighbors to a wedding there... 7 hours of driving (there and back) is a lot in one day, but it's good to get out and see friends. We were supposed to go camping tonight. So glad I have work and the wedding as an excuse not to go!!

Wish I could take a long winters nap... right now.

BUT,,, I owe, I owe, so off to work I go....

On a side note, I did set my hydrometer in a baggies with the salt water test and 12 hours later it reads 40%. And it was 38% in the bator. Think I might try and get another today. But hate to open a window to put it in.

Nothing to report yet.....
Here is Duva (Icelandic for Dove) hunkered down on her eggs ( and they are all still eggs, I hope I didn't kill the little pipper when I moved them last night) in her flower pot nest.
