Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Been watching my turkey hen all afternoon. She has been acting restless and looking for a nest. I made her two options and it still took her hours to settle down and finally give me one of these:

She's a week late but I think if I might see if I can save them and maybe get another incubator and off set them from this hatch so I can have baby turkeys

Happy Sunday all!

I am back from a Pump it Up b-day party for Pastrymama's boy. I am dog-tired.

BTW--if you ever have to run an obstacle course wtih Pastrymama, be aware: she cheats.

It's alright though, because I won anyway.

I got the styrofoam incubator out today and got it all cleaned up and running then figured since it was going I might as well go ahead and puts some eggs in

I had 11 saved for the Hatch-a-long so I put those in to test lol I planned on using it as a hatcher and doing the bulk of my incubating in the Eco 20. I have more eggs coming by mail and from a local lady this week and I am sure my girls will give me another dozen by Saturday. I can't wait for little fuzzy butts running around!!

Hey everyone! I'm home and caught up. I'm soooo tired. I DID get to go fishing, but we did have any bait so I ended up using a lure (which I never use) and ended up catching a bass that was too small to keep. Then I caught one that big enough, but just as my dad was reaching for the line it got away.... right off the edge of the bank. Oh well, we came home with 5 good sized bass. I'm happy.

You make me want to go catfish fishing. Bait the hooks, throw line out. Crack drink on pier. Relax until pole starts to bounce.

... I wonder if Maine has catfish?

I hope my girls start laying this week so i can add to the incubator. I wonder if I can bribe them into laying.......

Why don't you try the pepper trick? It seems there is no real reason that it should work but there are lots of people who swear by it. I've heard cayenne pepper and I've heard black pepper. Maybe someone can tell you which and how much. I think I might try it myself, I have 10 hens and 11 pullet/hens that should be laying by now but I only get 5 - 8 eggs a day.

That is beautiful! Congratulations! Can't wait to see the baby that busts out of that one!

I was hoping to get some turkey eggs for the Easter hatch but ended up ordering toooooooooo many chickie eggs. Hopefull I can get some after the hatch.
