Pm me when you're ready to come get them and I'll let you know where you're heading to. The girls laid exactly 3 eggs for me today. Extra cartons? I love you!

Yes, I built a "screen" for broody mommas. Measure your opening for your nest boxes, use 2x2s or something similar to build a frame that will barely fit in there, hardware cloth the middle of it. Shove it in the hole. I use shims to keep it steady and in place.
Those look awesome, SCG.

You guys are so handy. I have nice, wall-mounted boxes coming, but she's not in that. I have a tower of stacking plastic storage bins, which my SS didn't like, so I put some cardboard boxes on the floor. That's where she has decided to sit. Maybe a lid would work and I could manage her the way you explained above?

I think you could easily get a lid on that puppy. I'm thinking a few holes in the back top of the cardboard for some wire ties (hinge), into some small hardware cloth and then a simple latch in the other side (front, top).

I sure wish there were more entries for this contest! *hint-hint-hint*

I'm working on it. When does it close?

AK Michelle, are you vacationing in the sunny South? I see (on the map) you are not far from me. Stop in for coffee if you don't have to hurry back.......

And Lady Chickadee, cruising off the coast of Virginia Beach? Ya'll are just jet setters, aren't you!

My DH may kill me as I also have12 Frizzle/X coming along with the 12+ I should have from my own girls....

Since in the past, I have been a total failure at candling, I was very excited when I tried a new flashlight and actually saw an air cell!

So I am wondering, when my shipped eggs arrive, if the air cells look normal, should I still avoid turning them for 5 - 7 days? I planned to follow the procedure that ronott posted, but can lack of turning ever result in harm? If I put my own non-shipped eggs in the incubator with the shipped eggs and no turner, do I have to hand-turn my own eggs, or will they be fine just sitting there? I have been turning the eggs I'm collecting for the hatch each day so far.

Anyone have any ideas on this? Thanks.
