Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Wow, now I know what people mean when they have 200+ post to catch up on. It was worth it though. One of our Nigerian Dwarf does had FIVE kids today!

For an idea of their size, (my wife is 5'2" (really 5"1', but ....)

And of course there was an audience in the cheap seats, but with a birds eye view

aww...............

Ugh, I can't sleep so I had to peek in one more time. Then I had to check the map to see if the big yellow egg was what I thought it was...

Anybody else still up?

I AM !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST FINISHED THE HATCH-A-LONG LIST.

Kim you take it easy on that arm of yours!

Mahonri I think your patients would understand if you had to rearrange your schedule given the circumstances. Rest is important for healing.

Java Girl your dedication to this thread is very much appreciated! All of you have worked so hard to put this together and to keep it running so well. I am amazed at your energy!

OH Sunny! What time do you think you'll be getting out this way? Friday right?

Oops I missed this post the first time! I'll pm you. Mother Nature is not giving us a break right now.

OK. I'm gonna try that sleeping thing again that you all talk about.

Think can finally sleep. Got home from the surgeon's and I've been checking the hatcher ever since. Not even a pip. Just realized it's just now the 14th. Hatch day! Now I have to do this all over again tomorrow.

I think I could talk you into joining the hatch I do after this one so I can get some poults and I will set chicken eggs with them so they have smart buddies to hang around with. Come on all the COOL kids are gonna do it.

Yeah you probably could... if you sent me some turkey eggs ;)
I'm a pushover. But as far as chickens go... the inn is full, I think I've got at least 10 roos to go to freezer camp. The Easter Hatch roos usually end up going to freezer camp in October - any hatching later than that and it's usually too cold to do it comfortably, so really... this is it unless something awesome comes down the pike. How long does it take to get a turkey to a good butchering weight?

I am getting worried over nothing, I think. But my emu eggs have been sitting at the Sort Facility, since March 12, 2012, 8:19 pm, and that is over 24 hours!

ETA- The tracking info now says the eggs are in the next city over! I will be picking it up in the morning!

I may get gray hair by the time 50 some days are over, and I am only 23!

FB16 - you'd be surprised but grey hairs start sprouting around that age, anyway. And for some reason they do strange things like sprout in the middle of your forehead between your eyebrows and grow about an inch long overnight so you look like an old rhinoceros. Consequently, it also almost always happens the night before you're rushing to get ready in the morning and then don't really inspect your face well before leaving the house.

Grey hairs are sneaky like that.
