Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

DH swears he hates the hatching and the chickies, and the dust, and the poop...but after my first successful hatch and the chicks were downstairs in the basement in the brooder, they knocked over their water container and he comes running upstairs and yells get some towels and heating pad and runs back down. I dont' know whats going on I freak out and go down there and he has 20 something chicks in his arms and they are soaking wet and shivering. Some of them were flopped over and stiff and barely breathing, a few were just a little cold. DS was 3 months old at the time and screaming upstairs, and DH tells me to take care of my son and he'll take care of my chicks. He has the better ones sitting on the heating pad, the bad ones in his shirt against his skin and the ones I thought were goners for sure in his hands he sits there for over an hour blowing hot air into his hands. Every single one survived. Soooo...I'm thinking he doesn't hate them as much as he says he does.

My DH would do the same!

VERY, VERY afraid. I've had two friends pick up MRSA in the hospital in the last year. One of them was 45 years old. The other is still alive and battling it with IVs and vacuum pumps.

I hear you. From a little irritation that I scratched, a little red streak started . . . . got anitbiotics , , kept growing . . . . 4 days of morning and evening visits to the ER for a much higher dose of antibiotics. And the whole time I was thinking. . . the best place to pick up an illness is the hospital!!

Can you write a script for yourself?? Silvadene. Please. It is a very pretty silver color, like the TIn Man. I feel for you. ANd yes my kids are only now learning to cook at the stove. I have an alarm call that I always use to make sure my kids are in a safety zone when I am moving hot items from oven to stove or vice versus. I've already taught them to get to cold water or snow asap--goodness knows they see me dealing with tiny burns from bumping the oven element. Boy that hurts.

60 eggs collected so far from my hens, my bantams all want to seem to go broody, I only got 1 egg out of that pen tonight, hopefully they give me a few more so that i can give the school teacher her 2 mixed dozen on the 18th when she picks them up. Come on girls only 2 days to collect!

Good night. TIme for last barn check. THis thread is wearing me out and it's not even set date yet. How many posts today? 200? 300? Learning lots and laughing til the tears spill . . . THanks for the laughs everyone.

Silvadene... very expensive. (The nurse tried to score me some samples... they were all out) Trauma nurse also says that Neosporin on the large red parts should keep me infection free.

Caught up again!

Our prayers are certainly with Mahonri. Please see a physician and get the proper medicine, think of your kids and future grandchildren. Set the proper example.

Turkey Hatch Along (after this one). I'm in.

Rotten drivers, We might not get as much snow, and have mountain passes as some of you, but we have gently rolling hills, winding roads, and Amish Buggies. I plan for delays and leave early if I really have to be somewhere on time. Why can't others. Oh, and I'll have to try the windshield stuff.

Some cute chick and ducklings pictures.

Emu eggs are pretty big, good luck Farmerboy16.

And thanks for the kind comments about the goat kids. Mom and her kids are still doing well. When she can no longer keep up, we'll get some goat milk from a neighbor to bottle feed, until our next kidding (4/4 due date).

MRSA is realllly scary, and the hospital essentially killed my dad. Wasn't MRSA but neglect and ignorance. But a butcher...I mean Dr., did lose his license over it...its not even close to an even trade but I'll take what I can get. But, just so you know, you can get silvadene through canadian pharmacies without a prescription for about $30. I don't know if its something that should be applied immediatley or what.

Honey. Good quality honey. Google honey and MRSA. Google honey and burns. The best stuff comes from honey bees in Australia which collect tea tree pollen (I think it is the tea tree), one of the first google hits should talk about it. Hope it doesn't hurt too much!
