I am SO glad you got chicks, I was wondering how it went. This was my first time to ship out eggs. I have so many of those cute little stinkers in my brooder, it's kind of exciting to know some of them are now in TX!

Congrats!

Jesshan8 and debs_flock, would your like your incubator and pedigree box (respectively) entered into the invention contest? Let me know.

That would be great, thanks so much. I have two more things to enter. One I use every day, just need to take a picture. The second, I figured out, just need to go buy the parts.

Wow! I can't believe I finally caught up! My job for the last half-hour or so has been to stand on the ends of the pipes that DH is bending for our new hoop coop. The sun is so hot today, I feel like we have moved south.

So excited about the upcoming mobile hoop coop. :)
We're going to need it if any of these eggs hatch!

Hi everyone well DH has now pointed out that he thinks i lost my mind because i have done stated that after this hatch i will be hatching again i have 128 eggs for this hatch a long 56 are spoken for and the rest are mine and my daughters i have told him i will be hatching 84 next time and all he can do is shake his head. I think i have finally got my temp in the incubators finally stable again after adding the eggs it took a while for it to come back up.

I won't candle my shipped eggs for at least 7 days.

You can candle them every day if you want to. Make sure you wash you hands and use sanitizer before you touch the eggs. I use sanitizer on the candler too.

BTW, I probably will not be updating the contest page until tonight, so don't stress, people. I have a day of yard work ahead of me.

It sounds like you have it in hand. Not to be a bad influence, but they are in-stock (and more $$$) here. (There's a coupon code for $10 off which makes it a little easier to swallow.) I didn't really need one, but...

Do not throw anything out yet. It's really too early. I've been candling two of my Thursday-night-set eggs to take pictures, but I would never make a decision so early.

Don't toss anything until day 7 at least. Even then, I note which are not developing, toss outright clears, and leave the rest until day 14 just in case.

24 hours:

I usually do day 5, maybe 7, and 14 - that's it - but this time I wanted to take a picture of each day just for fun. So, I put in a few light-colored eggs from my flock just for this purpose. I'm not candling any of the "real" eggs (

) because I don't want to disturb them or get any oil from my paws on them (although I always wash my hands first!

OMG....DS was outside with DD and I was watching them through window while I was doing dishes. They're playing with dirt and sticks and stuff and all of the sudden DD starts screaming. I run out and she has a small cut on her finger and its bleeding. after I clean it up I make her show me what cut her, it turns out its my missing aquarium thermometer. The alcohol part is intact but the glass and beads aren't. DD says DS was eating the beads. So I run and check his mouth and there's no glass or cuts in his mouth but theres beads all over it. Does anyone know what those beads are? ARe they lead? Should I take DS to the ER?? I feel like the worst mommy ever.
