Well, it won't be long and this thread will have over 80,000 views and 6,000 posts.
Last year for the 2nd Annual Easter Hatch there were a total of 57,688 views and 7,800 posts and those totals go months after the hatch was over!..
We'll have more posts than last years total at least a week before lockdown!

I must say. I've learned a lot this year!

I can find it, but it doesn't like me, so I can't even submit it. I think I'm the dumb one.

Help, I may have messed up? I set 2 incubators this morning. I had just the one and then someone gave me some Muscovy duck eggs saturday so I had to go buy another. LOL
I set them around 8am this morning. We had to go to town and when we left around 11am my temp was looking stable at round 99.5 to 100.0. We came how about 3 hours later and the incubator with the silkie eggs was at 103.2 and the Muscovy eggs was at about 108! I think the silkies probably have a chance but the duck eggs?? Did I fry them? I'm hoping because they had just started maybe they will be okay? Oh and Muscovy eggs take 35 days! :O I need another turner! I am getting more duck eggs tomorrow. She will give me all I want but I still hope I didnt ruin these.

Looks like our final # of participants for this years hatch will be 247. 77 more than last year...

Now if we can just get EVERYONE to report in and tell us how many eggs they've set on the participation form found on Post #1.

I just want to thank everyone who has kept me in their prayers.
The problem with burns is, they can 'mature' with time... ie... get worse!
I basically have 4 areas that don't look good, but I'm having faith that I'll get better.
I imagine I won't truly have the scabs healed up until mid-April, and I imagine I'll have scars in 4 areas that will be there for the rest of my life.
FOLKS, remember be careful around hot things! One minute I was fine and the next, my life had been altered. I have no clue when I'll be able to go back up the mountain or resume some of my other weekly activities.

I have my kids regularly check the temp of any food or liquid they are around. I'm also going to go out to the shed on my day off this week and set the thermostat lower on the water heater. I don't ever want to see ANYONE go through what I've been through this past week.

Again, thanks for the kind thoughts, well wishes and prayers. They are greatly appreciated.

Now to go check on the temp in the bator. It's been 30 minutes. (Usually I've been checking every 20)

Please tell me about Three Sisters. It's corn, beans, and squash - right? Do you plant seeds or plants and what varieties? I have plenty of time...

Yes, corn, beans, and squash traditionally grown in alternating hills of corn and beans in one hill and the squash in another, and spaced about 30 inches apart at the centers. Varieties are not important as long as they are not compact or bush type. After the corn is up around 4 inches tall, you plant pole beans which will climb on the corn, and squash which will provide ground cover and smother weeds once it has. The beans make the corn stalks more sturdy and fix nitrogen in the soil where the corn can use it. I have done it the traditional way in the past once, including adding a small fish or bigger fish head to each hill, but will probably just do regular rows this year.

It really takes a while for the eggs to change temperature. Keep incubating. When you candle at 7-10 days you will have more information.
