Just so you all know, I woke my husband up with a full-on cackle because apparently when I read, I have a voice in my head. It said something weird and stopped my eyes, which went back up to re-read...There is finally a reason I can cite for why I don't like to call them 'bators now. I couldn't say why, prior...I just preferred the whole word.
I'm afraid I'm guilty of the same thing.I sat 17 eggs... chicken eggs, anyways.
I noticed you all have issues with keeping your bator closed, but my problem is...
I KEEEEEEP ADDING IN MORE EGGS!!! I have to chant, "DON'T PUT IN ANYMORE, DON'T PUT IN ANYMORE, STOOOOOOOOOP PUTTTTING MORE EGGGS INNN!!! YOU ALREADY HAVE WWAAAAAAAAY TOOO MANY!!!!"
Yeeeeah, I hatch too many, and can't get rid of 'em. I hatched like, 125 button quail since like feb 29th or so. I've sold... like 20. Tops. Is 1 an 2 dollars too much?
Hey, does anyone know why my eggs would die between days 12-16? And right before hatching? If I get them past the 16th day, they're generally fine.
And I usually only loose quail eggs before hatch day. It isn't my incubator either, because it wrks great and my quail hatch rates increase by 10% every hatch. Last time was 60%!
Can you enter an incubator/hatcher design in the 'ingenious inventions' contest?
I am so sorry that you are dealing with this again. My heart breaks for you, and I will certainly pray that your experiment succeeds.I have a prayer request if you all don't mind- I am experimenting a way to get rid of Mycoplasma gallisepticum in my flocks, one of the ways to do it is dip the eggs in a bowl of antibiotic water, and hope that the antibiotics destroys the disease before it infect the embryos. That way I can rebuild my farm with MG clean chicks from the infected stock. Please pray that God will allow the experiment to work. I have dipped all the eggs that I have set, to be on the safe side. I will have the chicks swab tested as soon they hatch.
Many thanks!
I am so sorry for your loss.ANYWHOOS: I am sorry for being such a slacker. I am so busy with stuff, and just found out an old-old friend of mine lost his battle with cancer.
