Wisher I have to agree, the best way for me to get DH to FINALLY do something he has promised to do, is to go out and start doing it myself. He will come running out and ask what I am up to. DUH!!!! I swear he is the king of "Iwasgonnajust". You know the land that is just east of Roundtuit.

My ex would only do something (and by do I mean start it and not complete it) unless we were nearing Big Trouble Bend which is right after the Screaming Caverns. Needless to say, boyfriend is aware of the geography around here and gets things done way before we get close to those dangerous areas. He knows I'm callous enough that if he doesn't pull his weight around here he can pull it down the road somewhere else.

Anyway, I do have one question. I wasnt aware that with a still air incubator the temp needed to be a bit higher at the top. So, like I said before, it has been steady at 99-101. Do you think this will be a problem?

I havent promised anyone any chicks yet. I am being greedy with my first ever hatch and plan on keep all hens just for me!

But I am sure I will just have to set some eggs not long afterr these hatch, right?

See SCG that is the thing with DH. I love him to death but his follow through sometimes is lacking. I am getting better at not visiting Big Trouble Bend or Screaming Caverns. I just go to Forgeddaboutit Lane and look over the things he promised to do. We had huge tumbleweeds growing in the flower garden areas in our back yard. For months they were on his "roundtuit" list. Every time I would notice them, I would turn my back and ignore them. He finally took care of them when they blew loose and wound up on our small patio outside our bedroom. Mostly I just take care of the outside stuff because I can't stand looking at it any more. He knows to stay in line mostly because he knows that if I get to Screaming Caverns, I don't need him really to do anything. Too many years of doing for myself (with the ex) taught me that I don't need anyone to do anything for me. I know how to do plumbing, simple electrical, simple carpentry and any yard work that comes along.

I think your temps are probably fine. BTW if you are looking for an excuse to set more eggs, we are doing another hatch right after this one. We are mainly doing turkeys (RIGHT SCG???) but you can set chicken eggs a week later and hatch with us.

I have 22 eggs stacked in each incubator the the 100 temp is on top of them i switch the eggs out so all have a chance on top but the eggs on the bottom are cool to the touch and so are some of the ones on the top someone on here yesterday told me that with a still air incubator that the temp on top of the stacked eggs should be 102 do i need to up my temp can i still save my eggs?

I don't think it "needs" to be higher, it just often is because there isn't a fan to recirculate the warm air that rises to the top. I'd say it's going to be fine.

No, don't touch! I would switch the eggs around once in a while to balance them out.

You have a still air, so, yes, the temp should be around 101.5 - 102.
Remember though, the temperature will cycle (like your furnace does). Find the highest and the lowest temperature, and average that. The 100 temp that you say you have...... is that an average?

I hatched out a lovely batch of Iowa Blues and EEs in my Genesis 1588 with a partially dry hatch. I started the hatch when it was pretty dry in the house, so I had water in the middle reservoir until it ran out then I didn't add any more. The humidity ran between 32 - 37% most of the hatch, then I added water in both reservoirs and a jar with a paper towel in it. By the time we had pips it was up to 65 -70. 25 out of 30 hatched with no sticky chicks! The non hatchers had probably quite before lock down.

That is my preference, too. I like 30 - 35% for the first 18 days. That works the best for me. Days 18-21 at 60 (but no more than 65%) works best for my hatches, too. I guess we all just gotta experiment and see what works best for us.
