Mahonri's 3rd Annual, BYC Easter Hatch-a-long!

Honestly, I don't miss the diaper years at all, well, if I could skip the diapers and the sleepless nights and just hold a little one.

Grandma time!

312 posts - no way I'm catching up tonight. I did fill out the participation form on Sunday, so no idea on that one. I wasn't on any of the lists I saw yesterday.

Anyway, just dropping in for this. Today we have 96 hours, Day 4:

****Jesse's Hatching update****
Well as luck would have it all has been going well with my incubator. But, when I got home today after college today the power was out to my house! I asked my daughter who was home sick how long it had been out and she stated that it was about 20 to 30 minutes which converts to ????? in teenage time. It's freezing outside and snowing like a bandit . So being the fanatic I am I run downstairs to check my incubator temp and the chicks in my brooder pen. The chicks were all huddled together and the house temp was about 50 deg. So now I am getting ready to cry. I run over to my Fridgbator and the temp is 93/94 degrees I am sure the neighbors heard my sigh of relief there. So I then run to the shed dig out the camping generator and fire it up and plug in the bator and brood lights. Catastrophe averted

The power came back on about two hours later!!!!!! WHEW!!!!
Good things to have those generators. We have one too..I've gone ahead and put my bators out in the car or truck and plugged them in before for power outage. Two hrs! That would not have been goo
..teenager time..30 mins... could equal...an hr? lo.. I know how they are when it comes to guessing how long something was, or if you asked if they did what was asked of them..then it's...I JUST did that for you about 10 mins. ago..real time..an hr. What's up with the hr. thing, becoming only 30 mins. or 10 mins.? :) They are cute though aren't they?

One of my hens just bit me!  Shes never bit me before!  I was about to move them from their bomb shelter to their coop and stopped to pet them a second, I barely touched her and she bit me!  It really hurt my feelings.  :hit   I don't know why but it did.  LOL  I don't know whats gotten into her.  during the day none of the let me pet them but at night they seem to enjoy it.

Kv, chickens probably just have bad days sometimes, same as us :/
I had to come and read posts here today because I am just too depressed to do much outside even though it was a very pretty day here

So sorry to hear this - one of my own great fears when ordering chicks. :hugs

I candle day 10 (much easier to see embryo) and day 18. Otherwise I try not to disturb the eggs too much, as they are always shipped.

So, I'm enrolled in a training program for Hundai. Let's hope they accept me and I get a job out of it.

In other news, my dad is talking about building a quail cage and getting eggs locally for me to hatch after the hatchalong. It was sort of brought on by me, because I mentioned that I could get free quail eggs with a certain GQF incubator combo. Oh boy, I done it now.

don't get to comfortable. Kids come home about the time you get used of being alone. And bring the whole family with them....

I'm secretly hoping my kids never leave. I may change my mind when they hit 13. I'm fortunate that my kids hang around with other kids whose parents call my kids on their behavior just as I remind their kids. Seems like the kids are more inclined to redirect their behavior when it's not mom nagging.

I HAVE A PAIR ! ! !

Emu sexing results are in, and I have one of each! Egg A is female and Egg B is male! Egg B has the red leg band on.

DANG, and when I saw the pics, I thought to myself. That bird with the red leg band on has to be a male... look at his feet!!!
