I had 7 out of 8 today looking good! This is my first time, so when I saw a tiny movement I freaked out. I thought it was my imagination but it's not, is it? Fluttering. Very exciting!

I do not. Stop that! I only have .62 of an acre! Emus need more space than that! And I bet they can go over a 5 foot fence. CERTAINLY at a dead run down a terraced yard, launch themselves right over it onto the street. Nope, nope, nope, not enough room. You have enough room. Really, you do. Just go outside and look around and figure out the best spot.
I'm so glad to see these photos, and happy to report that I have some eggs that look like that! I was totally confused, because there is that large light area at the bottom of the egg, and all I could imagine is that it was the air cell somehow developing on the bottom, which didn't make any sense.
I think my shipped eggs have some quitters, but I won't toss them unless they smell, because I have very little confidence in my candling ability.
One good thing about hatching is that it slows time down. Normally, weeks fly by, but waiting for eggs to hatch seems to take forever.

I'm thinkin' the neighbors would love it though. They (emus) would make friends over the fence.
